It Takes a Village…of Idiots!

Michael C. Morris
Those famous words uttered by Hillary Clinton rang in my ears as I watched the congressional hearings on domestic spying. I added the qualifier of “Idiots” as I watched Attorney General Alberto Gonzales sit in front of congress and explained how President Bush avoided the law. I have to say that when people are talking and dancing at the same time, they are lying, period!

What makes America a village of idiots is the fact that a full 50% of you out there outright believe that as long as what is being done is being done to protect us from terrorists, its ok that President Bush broke the law and used the constitution as toilet paper. While I have no problem spying on anyone in this country, there is NO excuse not to follow the law and report your activities to the court set up to hear such information. You and I could not go and do what we think is the right thing to do for the country without repercussions, why should the President be allowed. Beside, there was a reason that our founding fathers put a check and balance system in place. That was to make sure that no one party or person could run amuck with power and destroy this country.

For all those people who believe it was ok for President Bush to violate the law because he was protecting us from terrorists, I have a bridge for sale and don’t cry when every May Day you have to go to Washington and goose step and salute our king. Just to remind those idiots of their history lessons in junior high, remember McCarthyism? (McCarthyism took place during a period of intense suspicion in the United States primarily from 1950 to 1954, when the U.S. government was actively countering American Communist Party subversion, its leadership, and others suspected of being Communists or Communist sympathizers. During this period people from all walks of life became the subject of aggressive "witch-hunts," often based on inconclusive or questionable evidence. It grew out of the Second Red Scare that began in the late 1940s and is named after the U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy, a Republican of Wisconsin.) Well today, just replace the word communist with the word terrorist.

For the rest of use who are offended by President Bush’s actions, I ask that you join me in the following; I have voted Republican since I was 18 years old, I am now 47. Come this November I will vote not for Democrats, but against Republicans across the board. I ask everyone to do the same for any Republican who does not hold this administration’s feet to the fire for this outright violation of the sprit of the law if not the law itself. If we don’t show congress that no one is above the law, say fair well to the good 200 plus years we had and welcome to the era of Bushism!
