Green tea Cancer Studies Reveal Incredible Benefits

What does green tea cancer research say about its disease fighting potential? We´d all like to do what we can to stay strong and healthy. Wouldn´t be nice if just the simple act of drinking tea could help you to stay healthy for a long time to come?

Clinical studies show that the chemical compounds found in green tea may help you to not only avoid cancer, but also fight it on a cellular level. Cancer research continues throughout the country and the world, bringing information about the positive effects of this beverage.

Green tea is full of the antioxidant epigallocatechin-3 gallat or EGCG. Unlike black tea, green tea is unfermented, preserving EGCG. This is why green tea has a more positive effect in fighting disease than black tea. This powerful antioxidant helps in the fight against cancer by freeing our bodies of free radicals.

Just what is a free radical? These are naturally occurring molecules that have an uneven number of electrons. They are unstable and reactive. Because molecules are programmed to have their electrons in pairs, free radicals "steal" electrons from other molecules, which in turn causes those molecules to become free radicals. This chain reaction may eventually lead to cellular damage.

Certain environmental factors, such as exposure to cigarette smoke, can dramatically increase the production of free radicals in our cells. Ultimately, free radicals can damage our DNA, leaving us at much greater risk of developing cancer.

Anti-oxidants, like those found in green tea, help fight cancer by fighting free radicals. They actually neutralize the free radical by giving it an electron, thereby stabilizing it. Drinking green tea daily will increase your anti-oxidant level, reducing the health risks caused by free radical production.


The National Cancer Institute continues to conduct studies on the effects tea may have in preventing and treating cancer. One green tea cancer study focused on the use of green tea to shrink prostate tumors. Another is investigating the possibility that tea extract can prevent skin cancer.

Two Chinese studies have produced promising results with respect to green tea´s effectiveness in fighting both oral and esophageal cancers. As the data mounts, green tea devotees are more than ever convinced that they are protecting themselves by their daily consumption!

Green tea cancer research is still in the early stages. What we do know is that this amazing beverage contains an incredibly powerful antioxidant. EGCG just might help you as a strategy to prevent cancer.
