Interview With Oneself

Judy Ramsook
Mention the word interview and immediately most reporters or journalists start fantasizing about that one celebrity whom they would most likely want to interview.

In addition, come the many questions some of those reporters will have already well laid out in their minds. Of course wanting to interview a celebrity is fine, but on a more personal level how about conducting an interview with oneself?

If you had to interview yourself what questions would you ask yourself? Would you consider this interview to be as exciting as one you would have with say a celebrity of your choice. Below are a series of questions I have prepared for such a purpose.

Where do you picture or imagine yourself to be say, ten years from now? Most people asking this question might have said something such as, where do you see yourself ten years from now, but since we are all not psychics I thought the words picture or imagine would suffice just as well.

When you were growing up aside from your parents, did you have any other person whom you looked up to? This could be a relative, friend or celebrity.

Others might have said something similar to, when you were growing up, who were your role model(s)? I would like to think there was some one we all looked to for guidance or support when we were still so young and naïve.

Can you name one skill that you have or think you have that can prove beneficial to you say in a future career or job? I would like to think we are all good at something or another, no matter how small that skill might be.

If some one wanted to make a movie of your life so far, which actor would you like to portray you in the movie? The celebrity you choose might be a reflection on how you view yourself as far as physical appearances go.

Say you dreamt you were in a type of universe or dimension in which you could interview anyone alive or deceased. Who would you most want to interview and why? This could be an ancestor you have never met, a celebrity or some one with whom you are familiar.

If you were given a choice to be anything other than a human being, what would that be and why? Of course being human is the only thing we know how to be, but if you had a choice, would you rather be an inanimate object or a living, breathing entity?

Choosing questions for a prospective interview can be an interesting task, depending of course on whom your interviewee will be. Wise people have also said that in order to do something well, first some one should become familiar with him or herself.

Take some time to become familiar with yourself before embarking on something such as an interview, the end result will astound you; in a positive way of course.
