Elhashemy's Broad Spectrum Luqaimat Diet Plan ......4. The Superfood Slimming Factor

Elhashemy's Broad Spectrum Luqaimat Diet Plan is a comprehensive strategy that employs specific food types of micro-sized meals (Luqaimat in Arabic language) to induce different biological and psychological responses, with the purpose of obtaining ideal body weight and maintaining it for life.

The first element of Elhashemy's broad spectrum Luqaimat diet is boosting the bacteroidetes count in the colon.

We are still discussing the first element which included up till now:

1. Eating special forms of dairy products, which may boost the bacteroidetes count (dairy factor),

2. Avoiding as much as possible food contaminated with antibiotics, hormones, or pesticides, which may suppress the bacteroidetes count (organic food factor),

3. Eating Pizza with healthy specifications, which may boost the bacteroidetes count and improve the mood of the obese patient (the pizza factor), and

4. Concentrating our choices on foods with high quality nutrients (the Superfood factor), which we will discuss in this article.

Bee pollen is considered the most famous superfood, it contains thousands of phytonutrients (plant nutrients) including enzymes, bioflavonoids, carotenoids, phytosterols, free amino acids, Omega 3 fatty acids, and whole vitamin complexes. Bee pollen can be taken as food supplements or added to honey.

The berries group (blueberries, raspberries, blackberry, and strawberry) is the second high quality nutrient food which is rich in Vitamin C, antioxidants (anthocyanins), manganese and dietary fibers. Cherry, black plum and prune also contain high levels of anthocyanins.

Cacao and chocolate are considered to be the third category of superfoods containing over 100 chemical constituents, including polyphenols, minerals, alkaloids, phospholipids, serotonin, and tryptophan.

Some edible plants are also considered superfoods although they are not favored by many people. These plants include broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, brussels sprouts. They are rich in the phytochemical: Diindolylmethane which has potent anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-cancer properties through different pathways. Artichokes and beans are also potent superfood


Other superfoods which contain very high concentrations of antioxidants are nuts especially pecan and walnut. Again ground cinnamon, ground ginger, and ground black pepper are among the highly valuable antioxidants although they are generally consumed in small amounts.

All the above mentioned superfoods are highly beneficial to the human body as proved by many scientific researchers. Based on my advice, hundreds of my obese patients rely on those superfoods when following my Luqaimat diet plan (7 – 10 daily frequent micro-meals) and they achieved breakthrough results (average weight loss of 72 pounds in the first year). This success may be attributed partly to psychological effect as those obese people were not banned from eating their favorite foods as chocolate, cherries, and nuts; and partly because their possible effect on boosting gut bacteroidetes and Brown Adipose Tissue (BAT) of the body.

The first possibility for success is that these superfoods may have boosted the bacteroidetes count or protects it from being damaged.

The second possibility is that the antioxidant in such foods activates the remaining Brown Adipose Tissue (BAT) in the adult human body. The amount of BAT normally falls after infancy from 500 gram in the new borne (about 10% of the body weight) to 100 gram in adults (about 0.15% of the body weight). It is known that BAT affects positively the body metabolism since it is heavily concentrated with mitochondria. I think that food contaminated by pollutants such insecticides, antibiotics, and hormones is a major factor in BAT deterioration. Hence, I used such groups of superfoods as Luqaimat to correct the suppressed activity of BAT.

The third possibility is that superfoods with its dense content of antioxidants boost both bacteroidetes count & BAT activity.
