Horse Rescue Australia is a non-profit organisation devoted to the care and rehabilitation of horses that have been abused. abandoned or neglected. Horse Rescue was founded in 1986. and since then over 1,400 horses have passed through HRA. the majority of which have been placed into new homes.
Horses that HRA receives aren´t always just abandoned. Some are unfortunately neglected, malnourished or injured and some have a dislike of humans, so the work that goes in to horse rehabilitation isn´t just costly it´s also time consuming. Rehabilitation can be a long process some horses may require special feeding or ongoing veterinary attention, and all horses and ponies require farriery and dentistry work on a regular basis. Additional training is sometimes needed by horses that have had little or no contact with humans, to ensure that when they are able to go off to a new home, the new carers can keep them happy and healthy.
Horse Rescue relies on donations, and funds raised through membership, sponsorship and benefit events. Horse Rescue is a registered charity and is run entirely by volunteers who work hard to ensure that the horses they receive into their care get the best chance at a good life as possible.
Please look through their website, and see how you can help neglected and abused horses. You can become a member or sponsor a horse that you feel a connection with. They need donations, memberships, and sponsorships constantly this is the only way the horses can get the care, feed, vet services, medicines, rugs etc that they need and deserve
