Why have the Polls been so wrong?
We can also understand that many voters have not forgotten the 90´s with the continuous proven and accusation laden Bill Clinton Administrations. When this primary season began it was thought that Sen. Hillary Clinton would ride to victory by the time that Super Tuesday rolled around. This important deadline passed as it became clear that the gifted orator Sen. Obama had found his audience. 11 straight wins and now Ohio and Texas are on the block and we watch with anticipation.
Sen. Clinton seems to be pulling a Britney Spears type of self destruction. We never know what Hillary we will be like from moment to moment. One minute she is proud to be sitting next to Obama the next she scolds him like a wayward child. She says right up front that she believes that you or anyone needs to prove yourself before negotiations can begin. This is her thought concerning the position of President as it is more important than what we think as well as others.
Ask most independents just who they support and you find Obama beats not only Hillary but McCain too. Many moderate Republicans like hearing that there is hope again as they remember the Reagan and Kennedy eras. They both made us feel good and both did things that helped this country move forward. Wasn´t it assumed that Nixon would beat Kennedy hands down? The Polls showed this yet Nixon began to lose his cool as he couldn´t figure out how to fight this young idealist Kennedy.
Nixon like Sen. Clinton had assumed that the Presidency was theirs by right of passage. They both miscalculated just how America felt. Many forgot that too much time in politics can cause the candidate to be removed from the public interests. Sen. Obama worked with the poor and spoke with them as late as the 90"s. Sen. Clinton the 70´s and John McCain the 60´s. In the America we have today as the Economic Globalization has continued while we Americans have become poorer the markets have expanded and this nation of a mere 320 million becomes less important. We are still expected to deliver the bulk of grants and aid to the nations of the world.
The problem is that we have given away the bank so to speak. We can no longer afford to allow the trade deficits to continue. The once touted inflation rate is now called the Consumer Price Index (CPI). Individual debt is reaching 50,000 each. Food costs more, the Gas you use costs over 150% more from 7 years ago. Your utilities, insurances plus mortgages out weigh prices of homes bought for $300,000 and now are worth only $270,000.
You are pushed and forced to use credit as you want all that America can offer such as the cars and homes also allowing money for the electronics that we desire. We had a good ride yet the millennium has been different. We need freedoms to be restored, we need our country to return to the days of hope and dreams we were promised from day one. America needs someone to believe in again. We can continue these divisions that Hillary attempts to create or we can try to pull together and follow someone that can make America proud.
The election of 2008 will decide whether we will rebound or continue our decline as all great powers have done before us.
