Inculcating Discipline in Children
In case you wish to reward a child for following potty routines and good hygiene then do so with books. Get picture stories to further instill virtues on honesty, carelessness and sharing. Verbal praises and sweet kisses are great morale boosters. In a case your child continuously gets into an outburst for demanding a toy then be firm about declining. Acceding to impromptu demands for gadgets, amusement thrills and junk food does result in shaping a negative personality. Small things matter and it is necessary that you unlearn and learn afresh a few words on discipline. It is perfectly fine to get muddy at a rugby game and pet the dog. A hygiene bath ritual is to be followed after such happenings. If your child offers a plate with the left hand refuse it and teach him to use the right hand. Once he is off the high chair then allow him some crockery. Let him hold a glass and sip. In case it breaks do not lose your head. The breaking of the glass is puny compared to the breaking of his confidence. Teach them value of money and the power of prayer.
Sleep times require assertiveness. Initially what seems a chore will soon become a habit. Home works cannot be forgotten in weekend outings or favorite cartoon watching. If guests are invited, please convey the same in detail to the kids so that they do not ask embarrassing questions before them. Kids love to experiment, teenagers don´t like being ordered so calm down and state firmly. Carrot theory works but the stick theory will not.
Persuasion is the key, they will emulate you and always speak in a soft tones. Most negative sparks and erratic behavior stems from lack of sharing things. If in a nuclear set up, arrange group networks with formal associations or play a family game. Use the golden words, Sorry, Thank you, Pardon and Please among yourselves and naturally the kids copy you. Answer all their queries, make time for them, give them their occasional junkie munchie and teach them facts. Let them get the walking stick for their granddads and help the grandma out of the armchair. Discipline in the home ground hones a well groomed personality.
