A Review of the Oprah Book Club Selection: "The New Earth; Awakening to Your Life's Purpose"

Attached to a two star review at Amazon.com of "The New Earth; Awakening to Your Life's Purpose" by Eckhart Tolle, one of the commentators stated that "many have read it (i.e. the Bible) and missed the whole point." This is the absolute truth, because the Bible is filled with similar wisdom to what Eckhart Tolle claims as his own, except that he will not admit that the one True God is its source!
But even sadder than not understanding the Bible, or denying God as the source of our inspiration, is the fact that many have not read the Bible at all, but have obtained their faulty picture of God from misguided people, and their own imaginations. Having been misinformed that God is nothing but a judgmental, restrictive, and distant tyrant, many people were never given the opportunity to discover the God of Love who wants to have a personal relationship with us. In fact, the Bible tells us that "God IS Love" (1 John 4:8), and:
Matthew 22:37-39: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' "
So, in ignoring the God of the Bible, the world has rejected the very source of the love, acceptance, and forgiveness that they all desire - even if they do not know it!
The Bible is the greatest love story ever told, where God the Father used the moral and spiritual failure of the Israelites and the Kingdom of Israel to show all people that we cannot achieve righteousness on our own, but need Godīs Spirit to achieve anything lasting and good. Indeed, God loves humanity so much that He chose to sacrifice His own perfect Son so that His Sonīs blood could cover our sins, and save us from eternal separation from Him:
John 3:14-19: "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil."
Just as the powerful words of the preceding Scripture communicate, the Bible is a story of a just and loving God attempting to show fallen and sinful people what it means to be holy, and how - in our current state of separation from God - it is impossible for us to achieve holiness on our own without the Spirit of Christ taking up housekeeping inside our hearts. In other words, we are all spiritually dead until we are saved by Christ's sacrificial blood, and by His perfect Spirit.
Until people discover the love of Christ, Eckhart Tolle's spirituality - which says people are the measure of all things - will appeal to unsaved, unrepentant sinners who need a feel-good fix for their guilt and pain. Instead of being healed and made whole by the God of Love, these people allow themselves to believe that they need to be raped of their individuality, and pushed into a Borg-like (the Borg = totalitarian cyborgs in the Star Trek universe) collective consciousness rather than strive for a life of selfless giving, and total love in God's Kingdom, where our individual uniqueness is preserved and celebrated after being made perfect through Christ.

How tragic that Oprah Winfrey has chosen to highlight this godless book and author - as well as another book like it called "The Secret" - in her book club! By doing so, Oprah has clearly shown that she is another guru of the New Age Movement. Like Shirley MacLaine, Oprah and Eckhart are just two more false apostles who appear as angels of light to those who are perishing:
2 Cor. 11:13-14: "For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. "
How sad that someone like Oprah Winfrey - who is often so helpful, cultured, refined, and seemingly enlightened - could be so blind to the true Light of the World that is Christ, and to all those who love Christ more than themselves! Even so, I am praying for her, and for the many people like her who will perish unless they show their love for Christ, for all the people who don't know Christ, and for all the people who love Christ, and His Father in Heaven:
Matthew 25:34-45: "Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.' Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? And the King will say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren (i.e. devout Jews and Christians), you did it to Me.' Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 'for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.' Then they also will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?' Though the preceding Scripture hints that we should show God's love to everyone regardless of race, religion, or creed, it is emphasizing the love that all people should show toward Christ's own "brethren," who - if they love Christ - are His spiritual brothers and sisters.
Unfortunately, despite all the seemingly selfless material good that Oprah Winfrey has done in the world today, she has done virtually nothing to show her love for the One True God, or to fulfill the spiritual desires of her Christian brethren here in America, and elsewhere around the world.
Instead of feeding the world with the Word of God, and the Love of God, Oprah is leading many into apostasy and wickedness by touting the empty words, and false promises of the satanic god of this world - "the prince of the power of the air" who encourages people to turn themselves into gods, and worship their own achievements instead of the Creator God who made them (Ephesians 2:2).
