True Liberty is a Spiritual Concept ( Part 2 )
All people if they are sincere and are really seeking after true liberty, will find it. “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened”.... ( Matt. 7:7-8 )
This scripture above is being applied to receiving the Spirit of God directly, but can be applied to anyone who is honestly seeking after God, who is the author of ALL truth.
Everyone is given an opportunity to have real liberty, but not everyone will take it or can receive it. Because along with the gift of true liberty, there requires a moral and spiritual step and commitment.
Having liberty is not dependent on the history of a people. Any people can have liberty if they are opened to having it. Just because America was founded on the principles, that are found in the Bible that brought liberty, does not mean that any people can’t have it also. The religion of the Muslim people, was not founded on the principles that have brought any real freedom. They are in bondage to the philosophy or religion of a man. Outside of the Jews in Israel, (which laid the foundation of right and wrong from the law given by Moses, which became the basis of law in western civilization, which includes America), Israel and America were the only countries, up until modern times, that had real freedom and liberty.
True Liberty is not the freedom to do as one wants to do, but as one should do. We have laws that back up this statement, if you murder, steal, etc, you will wind up in prison.
True Liberty is not freedom from law - this is anarchy and its lack of order is disastrous. The question is whose law? Law made by humans ( called Humanism ) is arbitrary; and is just as disastrous as anarchy but takes longer for the consequences to become obvious.
These arbitrary laws made by humans, have and are being made slowly, it will bring more and more government force and bondage. This in turn, will give the government more tools, to take more of our precious freedoms away, which will never be restored once given. If we don’t believe this we are very, very, naive, and too trusting of our so called “leaders.” Our “leaders” are mere human beings, subject to sin and corruption like the rest of us. ( “For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God”....( Rom.3:23 ) If we don’t already know this, we will be opened to deception, and we will help those enemies of freedom, put on the chains of our slavery.
We are in a catch 22 situation. If we allow government to have more power not granted in the constitution, our government might be able to catch terrorists by their wire tapping. On the other hand, if we give this power to our President who has already proven he is a “Globalist,” and for “World Government,” we will be giving him more power in which to destroy the rest of our sovereignty, and any remaining constitutional freedoms that we have. ( The courts are already ruling by foreign laws that are destroying our constitution. ) The U.N. is preparing itself to be the worlds governing authority, with our government and many of our leaders giving them a helping hand. If you don’t believe this just read the New American Magazine, www.thenewamerican.com , and Deanna Spingola’s “Bush’s War on Terror” & “Warfare, the Road to Globalization,” at www.renewamerica.us , also, G. Edward Griffin’s web site: www.realityzone.com , Nancy Levant’s article: “Are We the People, the Enemy? At: www.americanchronicle.com . There is more than enough documented evidence, that America is being sold out, by our own President and many of our so called “leaders” in government.
Our Founders were adamantly against “democracy”. They thought of it as “mob rule,” which it can be. At best the minority opinion is marginalized. Our founders believed in the law of Moses ( law out side of, and higher than human’s arbitrary opinions ), and the same representative government established in the Hebrew Republic 4000 years ago - ( we do still pledge allegiance to a “Republic not a democracy or an oligarchy ). One of the verses from Moses’ law is embossed on our liberty bell “Proclaim liberty through out all the land” ( Lev. 25:10 ) This “liberty” was proclaimed after the Hebrews chose whether to “do their own thing” and suffer death, or obey their God and be blessed with true liberty, prosperity, happiness and life.
The Father of American Geography, Dr. Jedidiah Morse, was a clergyman. He preached an insightful Election Sermon in 1799 from Biblical text: “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? ( Psalm. 11:3 ). He said:
To the kindly influence of Christianity we owe that degree of civil freedom, and political and social happiness which mankind now enjoys. In proportion as the genuine effects of Christianity are diminished in any nation, either through unbelief or the corruption of its doctrine, or the neglect of its institutions; in the same proportion will the people of that nation recede from the blessings of genuine freedom, and approximate the miseries of complete despotism. I hold this to be a truth confirmed by experience. If so, it follows, that all efforts made to destroy the foundations of our holy religion, ultimately tend to the subversion also of our political freedom and happiness. Whenever the pillars of Christianity shall be overthrown, our present republican forms of government, and all the blessings which flow from them, must fall with them.” ( From the book: “America’s Providential History” P. 248-252, by Mark A. Beliles & Stephen k. Mcdowell of the Providence Foundation. )
It is obvious that we as Americans have receded, and are continuing to recede from the blessings of genuine freedom. We are continuing our slide into complete despotism.
CALVARY - THE BIRTHPLACE OF LIBERTY
Calvary has always been the birthplace of liberty, the place where the individual, by spiritual faith, goes to be set free from the tyranny of sin. Here, also, began the Christian Era, and the world’s system of hopeless enslavement to sin and oppression began to be undone by spiritual liberty and freedom of the individual. Calvary is the beginning of the end of the wretchedness of spiritual bondage and its consequences, political slavery; the stronghold of sin upon the souls and bodies of mankind could now be loosed.
The failures of ancient societies belonging to fallen, unregenerate mankind, need not be repeated. As Christianity entered upon the scene of history, it brought into the world, a new and revolutionary form of government, Christianity’s form of government - self government, the government of God through Christ indwelling the individual.
The power of Christ in individuals “turned the world upside down,” ( Acts. 17:6 ) In principle, spiritual and political slavery were overthrown, and mankind gained real hope of reversing the inherent, downward spiral toward self-destruction that, historically, is so characteristic of human depravity. As spiritual bondage of the individual is the foundation upon which despotisms are built, so likewise is spiritual liberty of the individual the foundation upon which free states and nations are built. This Biblical resolution to every form of tyranny in existence is the great revolution of history, and that revolution is the work of God, of Divine Providence.
The capacity men and nations have for self government is to be measured by the extent to which they live in Christian liberty. Free men and nations are self governing. Self governing men and nations live in liberty. Liberty is the internal, operative work of God’s Law of Liberty. The Gospel, James 1:25, upon the heart of man. The power of the Gospel which sets men free from “the law of sin and death,” Romans 8:2, internally, is the same power which works to set them free externally - socially, politically, and economically. The history of men and nations testify of this working of God through The Gospel, His Law of Liberty.” ( From the book by Katherine
Dang: “Universal History - Law Without Liberty” )
When all citizens govern themselves by a single standard, there is much peace throughout their society. When they use the standard of Moses law and its fulfillment, ( i.e. Jesus, the Jewish Messiah’s law ) the ultimate peace, prosperity and happiness is enjoyed by the society.
The proof is in the first 200 years of America’s history ( i.e. 1600-1800 ). The latter part of our history has steadily been corrupted by the enlightenment philosophies. ( That is, man’s own ideas and opinions, thus humanism.)
In Isaiah. 61:1, Isaiah is prophesying about the coming messiah Jesus Christ: “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me....to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord”....
In Luke. 4:18, Jesus is reading and quoting that same scripture in Isaiah above, in the Synagogue, and He sat down. And the eyes of all who were there were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing”
"Stone walls do not a prison make, nor iron bars a cage." ( Author not known )
In other words we can be imprisoned or in bondage to anything ( i.e. ideas, substances, materialism. )
Since that day when Jesus Christ started His ministry, and walked the earth, He has proclaimed liberty to the captives of sin. He continues to proclaim liberty and walks the earth through His people today, and is still opening the prison house to all that are bound, that receive His message. He has brought thorough and complete liberty and freedom to multitudes for the first time in the History of the world.
