Why we need humor on a daily basis

Rhianna Suttie-Gunson
Imagine a day without humor. A day without a laugh or a giggle. Not even a hint of a smile. I am sure that for most imagination is not needed. I am sure we have all had a day exempt from humor. Naturally these humor free days are not enjoyable.

The absence of humor on a daily basis would be just one more tragedy for society to deal with. Like there isn't enough already to deal with. Turn on any news channel and there is not much more than death and destruction combined with violence and crime.

If there is any hope of sanity to remain with us all, daily humor should be made mandatory immediately!

There is more truth to the old saying 'Laughter is the best medicine' than an old wife would have you believe. Laughter triggers the body to release feel good hormones know as endorphins. Studies are showing that releasing these hormones has positive implications for wellness, disease-prevention and most certainly stress-reduction.

People for the most part want to lead a happy existence. Life is meant to be a journey filled with happiness and joy. Having a sense of humor can bring this to life in more ways than one.

For example it is humor that makes us laugh when all goes wrong. Sure it is easy not to have humor around but life is much better when humor is present.

The healing qualities of humor are seen best in the kids with cancer organizations such as Camp Quality. Here a group that deals with children who have terminal illness advocates above all else that the best medicine is a healthy dose of humor. There have been cases of great improvements in health after a Camp Quality camp.

True humor is completely made up of goodness. There is no harming anyone, there is no pain or injustice. True humor is something that we need all need every day

Writing has been a long held passion and to be finally living the dream is an enjoyment in itself.

Currently my written work revolves around parenting and Infant Massage. The two are closely related and something I have a vast knowledge base of.

As a Certified Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI) I have encountered many parents, babies and problems they face. I have of course also come across many who enjoy the parent/child relationship and all that it entails.

These experiences added to my own as a parent provide me with endless opportunities for article topics and I look forward to sharing them here with you.

All comments and feedback are greatly welcomed and appreciated. If there is a particular topic, subject or matter that you would like to see discussed please drop me a line, I will try my best to accommodate your needs.

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read my work, please come back soon (or better yet subscribe!)

May in every way this be a special day
