The Meaning of Life

Stuart Schaefer
I've come to the conclusion that we are on an endless search to find meaning in our lives. We want to know why we're here. Well, I think what we're really looking for is happiness...and happiness comes from within--we all need to search deep within our hearts and souls, and begin to silence our minds and the world around us.

Happiness isn't a thing; it's a sate of being--being able to love each other, being able to find joy in life, and doing what you want for YOU.

When we can go through life and just do what we want because we want to...well then, we're truly free, and we can find happiness from within. I meet so many people that are amazing, but the image they hold and show others is one they think others want to see...it's not who they are. They're trapped.

There are a few things, however, that we must realize:

1. Anything we say and think about others reflects what we think about ourselves. We're all connected, and a part of each one of us is in everyone else. If we're truly at peace with ourselves, then we can find beauty and love in everyone and everything around us.

2. The same thing applies to others: if someone treats you badly, realize that they aren't treating you badly because of you...but rather because they have an unsolved problem within themselves. If we can see past their immediate actions, and show them love, they can heal themselves.

3. People cannot read minds. If something is bothering you, odds are others don't even know. TELL THEM!

In relationships, drop any and all expectations. If you want something, ask for it. If there's a problem, acknowledge it. Stop playing games and be true to YOU. Destiny will bring us to the person we're supposed to be with. Games will only build a weak foundation.

4. Follow your heart...if your heart tells you to love, love. It you heart tells you it's wrong, listen. If you're being "called" to go somewhere, go. Quiet your mind and follow your intuitions. The only barriers in life are the ones we create with our minds. Anything is possible if we believe it's possible.

5. Live each day as though it were your last. What would you tell those that are in your life? What risks would you take? Would you have any regrets? What walls (that your mind creates) would come down?

6. Time is the one thing we can never get back. Stay in the moment and forget about the past...the only thing that matters is "here and now." We only get to experience each moment once, so we better make it good.

How can this relate to fitness? First, workouts put you in the "here and now." They silence the mind and help us block everything out except the moment we're in.

Second, exercise and fitness is something we do for ourselves...it must be something we do for ourselves and no one else. Realize, though, that looking better won't create happiness. Achievements--things--won't bring happiness. We must be happy with us. We must find joy in what we have and in our lives. Then, we can do what we love and we can do what we want...for us.

Talk about a success story; Stuart Schaefer is a living, walking, breathing success story of his new book, Lifetime Physique: 16 Weeks to a Better Body, a Better Life--A Better You.

At a young age, Stuart was forced to make a life decision: he could continue down the path he had started, which would lead to a life of crime and jail; or he could create a new life full of purpose, drive, and determination. He chose the latter and re-created himself using fitness and the principles associated with becoming fit.

Stuart realized how powerful—if applied correctly—these newfound principles could be. He graduated valedictorian from high school, earned a full-ride scholarship to The University of Colorado at Boulder, and brought a new level of fitness to the campus.

Stuart has been involved in the fitness industry for nearly a decade—starting as a bodybuilder, then moving into training where he has helped hundreds of men and women transform. He leads motivational seminars, teaches people how to build a complete lifestyle full of success, and, now, Stuart has written Lifetime Physique. In it, he shares the secrets he uses to help others achieve life success.
