Why is Christina Laurean Free?
She aided and abetted a known criminal. Even if she did not know her husband killed Maria Lauterbach and her unborn child, she knew he illegally disposed of the bodies. That is a fact; that is a crime.
The Laurean family enjoyed the holidays, often celebrating with friends, while Maria Lauterbach and her baby´s remains fueled the fire by which they warmed themselves. How disgusting is that? Almost as disgusting as the Marine Corps ignoring the pleas of Maria´s family and friends regarding her disappearance.
The Marine Corps, in its effort to "keep problems in the family", now has a huge problem on its hands. Not just that the accuser is dead, and hopefully they could keep the accused under wraps and engage damage control to the public--as we know the military is often want to do--but the accused fled to avoid charges, AWOL, and his wife helped him.
Had the Marine Corps investigated the rape allegation in a timely manner, lives could have been saved. But once again, the inconsistent treatment of a military sexual assault victim led to a despicable furthering of the abuse, tragically resulting in two deaths and one of two alleged murderers unaccounted for.
Christina Laurean is blossoming into the willing accomplice, despite her family´s reports of her fragile, dispirited condition. Has she cut a deal with prosecutors to avoid prosecution by assisting in the apprehension of her husband, Cesar Laurean? One only has to guess yes, she has. Why else should she be free?
With all of our superior military capabilities and intelligence, why is Cesar Laurean still missing? Reports that he is well-skilled in survival techniques and can blend in anywhere have surfaced leading one to believe he is the best of the best. Though he may have been well-taught, he is still only a coward on the run, possibly heading to or in Mexico where there is no death penalty and no tolerance for our own. If caught there, facilitating extradition may mean an agreement from our own government that the death penalty will not be an option in the prosecution and sentencing of this case.
The truth is slowly seeping out like frozen molasses through a fine straw. The Lauterbach family continues to suffer through military decisions that can only be construed as obstructionist tactics. A family broken hearted with no answers forthcoming, they live in the dark. Until this storm settles, Christina Laurean should face charges and be jailed without bond.
The Marine Corps´ silence is deafening. Almost as quiet as death.
