Does The Thought of Creation Control Everything I Do in Life? You Betcha!

Josia Nakash
We live with the illusion that we control everything in our lives, but our given traits, upbringing and environment define us so completely that they really don?t leave much room for free choice.

If we really want to attain freedom of will and come to the right decision of good and pleasure, we should start revealing what surrounds us. And what surrounds us is the Thought of Creation, the special action of the only force that puts in motion everything around us, including us ourselves, to bring us to the right decisions, the right vision, and ultimately to the best possible degree and condition."

- Rav Michael Laitman, PhD

The year before I became exposed to Kabbalah, I was making more money than ever and was the most go-lucky yuppie consumer on the planet. I was living on sushi, buying designer brands, traveling abroad on shopping sprees, skiing in Europe, swimming at the best country club, getting ridiculously expensive treatments, taking top of the line ?feel better? courses, and apart from the fact that I was still single -- I really thought I had it made, but of course I felt very empty inside. I desperately tried to use my success and favorite pastimes to rid myself of that horrible feeling, but nothing did the trick.

Everything up to that point was about me and I truly believed that I had accomplished it all on my own. Boy was I in for a wake-up call. Because from the moment I started studying Kabbalah, I suddenly understood the significance of all those things I had derived so much pleasure from -- that I was only fulfilling my egoistic desires to please myself. That I was only taking. This abrupt revelation included discovering the existence of an entity on a higher level giving me everything. An entity that wants me to develop to my fullest potential to become exactly like Him in every aspect. That is what the Thought of Creation is all about.

After a decade of searching for the first time in my life I felt I finally had all the answers. It was and still is an incredible feeling. Once you grasp what the universe wants, you understand exactly what you were put here on earth for, what your role is, and what you need to carry it out in the most optimal manner. Your entire life becomes much more goal-orientated where your thoughts move away from yourself and shift toward thoughts about how to propel the Thought of the Creation forward.

And guess what? Suddenly, I had no desire whatsoever to do any of those things I used to do. I may be an exception to the rule and Kabbalah is really not about external things, but in my case it was literally overnight that my values changed. My tastes became simpler and within a very short period my entire lifestyle became a lot more modest and centered on a single goal -- doing everything in my power to help advance the Thought of Creation as efficiently as possible.

After getting a taste of how good it feels, your desires switch from wanting material abundance, to your entire being yearning for the ultimate fulfillment -- spiritual abundance. That?s eternal, perfect and completely in harmony with nature because it returns us to our ideal form.

So here?s the bottom line: The Thought of Creation is way bigger than you. It is an all-encompassing eternal process that controls every aspect of your life. And it can throw you a curve ball whenever it feels like it. The more you resist, the more you will suffer. The more you participate in the process, the more pleasure you will receive. And even just being aware of this process and agreeing to it is enough to change your destiny.

All the Thought of Creation wants is to supply you with the means for receiving millions of times more filling than you are capable of absorbing in your present state. A special filling that connects us all as ?one man with one heart? to the upper world, just as we all stood together at Mt. Sinai and received the commandments.

If all this makes you stop and think about the meaning of your life, then I have succeeded at giving something back to the Thought of Creation. And so can you. Know that you can go much further in this life than you ever imagined possible, and be rewarded appropriately.
