Benzoil Peroxide -- The Most Powerful Anti-Acne Sorcery

Angela Rogers
Teenagers suffer from acne most commonly, but it can break out in adults too. While it is a result of normal bodily and hormonal changes that teenagers underrgo, it can result from changes in environment, bacteria certain allergies, or changes in hormone levels in adults. A common myth says that certain foods can and a dirty face can cause it. Rather than worry about the causes of acne, the next best thing to focus on is how to get rid of this skin rash once it appears.

Because it results from clogged pores, we must try to unclog the pore and treat the root cause. Many over the counter products such as Oxy 10 use a well-known chemical called benzoil peroxide to remove the irritated red splotches. It is likely that the clogged pores will result in further breakouts so a regular washing of the face is needed to keep nearby pores clear and further breakouts. Ideally, the face should be washed before the acne product is applied.

It is tempting to use astringent products that are designed to draw out oil and makeup, and it is not harmful to do so as long as you do not overdo it. The facial skin is already irritated and over scrubbing only serves to make the condition worse.

Adult acne can be embarrassing and we may wish after we leave our teenage years to never be in the aisle containing Noxzema or Oxy10 again after we reach the age of 21 (unless we use their cold cream or shaving cream), but even people who have the clearest skin suffer from an occasional breakout.

Identifying the cause whether it be the ones listed above or simply too much stress in your life can help the breakout from getting worse, but benzoil peroxide will treat the breakout once it already has occurred. The important thing is that the most effective anti-acne products contain this product, not what their actual brand name is. Just be sure to read the labels when shopping for an effective medication to treat break outs of this condition. Follow the directions and make sure to wash your face, but not to over do it. Once that is done, an adult can figure out what caused the outbreak and take whatever steps he needs to to prevent an acne breakout from happening again.
