Will Hillary Clinton Fold or Turn Negative
Hillary Clinton’s had a lifetime of image building, her poor performances were downplayed and her acceptable performances where exaggerated. Her whole adult life has been scripted for her by professionals. Hillary has the ability to shine under the most adverse circumstances, being rejected by the voters may be the one exception she can’t accept.
Barrack Obama is proving to be more of a candidate than the Clinton’s expected. The Clinton handlers assumed Obama lacked political experience and they weren’t prepared for what they’re getting. It’s safe to say Barrack Obama posses every bit of the charisma Bill Clinton exuded when he was a candidate for president. There’s no question Obama has gone through some extensive training for this campaign. It’s unprecedented for someone with only two years national political exposure to run for president and do this well.
Now the question is how Hillary will handle her first real challenge in her political career. She never dreamed her greatest political challenge for the nomination would come from within her own party. How can Hillary challenge Obama and not make her seem petty. The Obama campaign seems to be as well organized as the Clinton campaign. So far Obama has been able to swat Hillary’s soft ball petty attacks out of the park. Will the Obama camp continue to dismiss Hillary as a minor irritation as they have in the past months or will Hillary turn so negative she can no longer be ignored?
There are two schools of thought, Hillary can bring out the big guns and try to destroy Barrack Obama’s squeaky clean reputation. Some of her staff seems to think they have sufficient dirt they’ve been holding back that will harm Obama. Or she can follow the example of the former presidential candidate Teddy Kennedy, bow out and be content to spend the next millennium as a United States Senator.
Hillary Clinton is a pragmatist she’ll weigh her options and do what she thinks best for Hillary. We can only assume Hillary’s ego won’t allow her to go down a loser. It will be much easier for Hillary to create an excuse and bow out of the race than to go on and loose to Obama. Hillary isn’t the intellectual she’s been portrayed over the years. She can serve in congress for as long as she likes and not be put on the spot, Senators don’t have to be smart just clever.
How is it possible for a person to become so self absorbed with their own image they miss the total picture? Hillary Clinton had been around politics long enough to know Bill Clinton’s popularity was an abnormality. He got away with things no one had before and wont likely to again. Bill Clinton received more black eyes than anyone and came out unscathed. The Clinton Administration made every mistake an administration can endure and survived. There’s no reason to believe a Hillary Clinton administration would be able to copy and survive, Hillary doesn’t have Bills charm.
Hillary Clinton’s humility comes too late in the campaign. She’s been far to abrasive in the past to reinvent her image now. Hillary has offended many women by her overly aggressive posture, It’s rather sad Hillary has received so much publicity she’s been promoted to heights she can’t possibly achieve.
In the past 15 years Hillary has never once doubted she would achieve her lifelong dream of being the first lady president. Her dream has never been challenged until the time came to put up and now she’s on the edge of failing for the first time in her adult life.
Hillary may not win the nomination for president however she’s not a quitter. She can go back to the senate a better person for her loss and serve the nation for years to come. Hillary Clinton’s problem she’s believed what her handlers were telling her and never bothered looking in the mirror to see who she really was. That’s the problem with those who surround themselves with yes man, the yes men never know when to be honest and say no.
