Before you throw out those Christmas cards, here are a few great

recycling ideas to help save space in your garbage can/landfill.

1. Cut your holiday cards in strips to make bookmarks.

2. Cut the scenes from cards to use as gift tags next year.

3. Take cards and glue them to construction paper and laminate to make

them holiday placemats. Your guests will love to see you kept their

cards.

4. If you scrapbook, use old cards to make festive scenes. Just use a

cookie cutter, trace the image and cut out.

5. Make your own holiday jigsaw puzzles. Cut up the cards, glue pieces

to cardboard and kids can put them back together.

6. Use old CDs to make tree ornaments. Cut out scenes from cards, glue

to CD and hang.

Also, remember to recycle your tree, although flocked trees {trees sprayed white} cannot be recycled. Remove all lights, tinsel, and ornaments. If you have curb side recycle from your trash pick-up remember many will not take the tree if it's not cut into smaller pieces, don't just stick it into your recycle bin. Many cities have Tree recycling drop offs as well, check with your city.

Make sure to recycle all paper gift wrap, gift boxes, greeting cards, cardboard from packaging, glass, metal, beverage containers. Trees, Wreaths, Garlands, Cut Flowers any other botanical decorations. Make sure to re-use the packing material from gifts you have been sent. You can re-use the plastic and Styrofoam packing such as the peanuts and bubble wrap for your own gift mailings throughout the year or collect it and donate it to a postal store.

This year make a resolution to do one new "green" thing in your home, Why not make that recycling. Not only is it green but it helps minimize land space in landfills and helps the environment.
