Where Are The Republicans, Part Two

Ken Hughes
I just posted an article suggesting Republicans were in trouble. My e-mil box is full of responses from supporters of various Republican candidates. The most notable were those supporting Fred Thompson. I’m a Red States Voter living in a Blue State. We haven’t heard much about Fred in these parts. I try to follow the news and I don’t see a lot of coverage on Fred on the national news either. I know what Fred is, a well qualified man for president, The media seems to concentrating on what he isn’t, A Mormon, a Baptist Preacher, A war Hero, an ex Mayor of New York. He hasn’t been accused of any infidelity as yet he’s not a child molester so I ask, what Fred Thompson can do to get some media coverage.

How has Huckabee managed to move up in a short period of time, Like Hillary Huckabee has a solution for every problem even when they are contradictory. Mike Huckabee is doing a lot of “I was against it before I was for it.” It’s also Huckabee’s support is coming from those voters just right of center otherwise know as independents.

I’m not Fred Thompson’s campaign manager, if I were I would makes sure he got out among the voters in the streets of small town America not at Republican Party organized events. It’s hard to make an impression when you’re seventh or eight in line. Another thing I would do is create incidents the media couldn’t ignore up to putting lipstick on a pig and kissing it if necessary. Fred Thompson has to have something the rest of the candidates don’t have and can’t immediately duplicate, something that attracts national media attention that won’t come back to haunt him.
