Pat Robertson's Plan To Build Biblical Theme Park In Peril
Televangelist Pat Robertson (As reported by the Associated Press.)
Ariel Sharon, the Prime Minister of Israel, suffered a massive stroke last week, he will be lucky to survive and will not be returning to power.
Pat Robertson is a conniving and calculating character who has little to lose by making such outrageous statements. Folks with common sense don't need additional proof that he is a charlatan, and his followers still hand him millions, regardless what lunacy spews out of his mouth.
Every time he makes an idiotic statement he gets adverse publicity, claims he is under the attack of Satan -- which spurs his sheep to donate more money to his ministries.
But this time the good reverend may have miscalculated, Robertson's plans to build a biblical theme park on the shores of the Sea of Galilee collapsed after the government of Israel refused to do business with him.
Robertson infuriated some Israeli government officials when, a day after Ariel Sharon had suffered a massive stroke, he implied Sharon was experiencing divine punishment for removing Israeli settlers from the Gaza Strip.
Robertson doesn't care if he is a divisive force in American culture, but he does care if he loses money.
The Israeli government should be ashamed for considering doing business with a man who believes that all Jews are going to hell.
The Holy Land is the birthplace of the three major monotheistic religions, thousands have died battling over that disputed real estate, and they were going to let him build a religious amusement park?
Was the biblical theme park going to include a holy roller coaster that passes through a tunnel of fire where Christ-rejecting Jews burn in hell fire?
Evangelical Christians believe that in order for Jesus Christ to return, two preconditions are Jewish control of the Holy Land and a mass conversion of Jews to Christianity.
Israel should have nothing to do with a preacher who sees Jews only as potential converts to his Neanderthal brand of Christianity, and Americans should have nothing to do with a buffoon who is an ungodly embarrassment.
