Edge wins the WWE Championship!
However, I?m sure internet fans and even wrestling fans were baffled and ecstatic that John Cena lost the title.
My opinion, I?m glad that John Cena lost the belt too. Nothing against John Cena personally, but ten months being a champion was getting boring and it was time for a change. As I said, nothing against John Cena, because he was at least a fighting champion, when you compare him to a lazy wrestler like Batista as champion.
At New Year?s Revolution John Cena successfully defended his WWE Title in the Elimination Chamber; however, he would be surprised by Vince McMahon introducing a new title match in which Cena would have to face Edge.
I for one am glad that Edge got this giant push to the WWE Title, because it was his time to shine.
You may be familiar with Edge in his real life love triangle situation with Matt Hardy and Amy Dumas aka Lita. While a heated rivalry escalated the victory would be Edge?s as Matt Hardy would be forced to go to Smackdown and Edge stay on RAW.
After his feud with Matt Hardy, Edge would proceed with lackluster angles such as feuding with JBL on Smackdown, and feuding with the squalor of professional wrestling, Ric Flair.
It seemed that Edge?s career was going through a downward spiral as these lackluster feuds didn?t do Edge any justice. The WWE tried to give Edge his own talk show segment on RAW, and while it did boost Edge?s heat the WWE still refused to give Edge the push he deserved.
At New Year?s Revolution he would lose to the Ancient Boy Ric Flair via disqualification. A legend, Ric Flair, is not. After watching Edge lose another match to a lackluster wrestler it seemed that Edge?s big push he deserved in the WWE was going to be the same fate that the promising push Christian Cage was supposed to receive in the WWE.
That is until Edge won the title at New Year?s Revolution. It was a day that made every WWE mark, fan, and wrestling fan happy, because it?s quite obvious that Cena is not popular with the fans, just hearing the giant wave of boos in the arena told the story.
It?s a whiff of fresh air, and while I may have chosen someone like Rob Van Dam to be the surprise opponent, Edge winning the belt was the next best thing.
Congratulations to Edge! To John Cena, nothing against you personally, but when fans boo you and you're being a good guy you're just not doing your job as champion. However, look at it this way, you were a way better champion than Batista, at least you defended your title.
