Ariel Sharon, the Prime Minister of Israel, suffered a massive stroke on Wednesday, he is not expected to recover.
Radical Muslims and fundamentalists Christians have a lot in common, they both worship a God who has a thirst for violence and vengeance.
Pat Robertson does not believe in compromise or negotiation to solve intractable problems, he sees things in black and white. He believes that the West Bank and Gaza are part of Greater Israel, and anyone who doesn't see things his way should be smitten by God.
That's the same mindset of the terrorists who attacked us on 9/11, they saw themselves as the avenging angels of Allah -- sent to smite the Great Satan.
Robertson, speaking on his "700 Club" cable TV show, said he counts Sharon as a friend. With friends like that, who needs enemies? How is the Rev. going to pray for his buddy? "Oh dear holy and compassionate Lord, I pray for my friend Sharon, you have rightly smitten him with a stroke, please take him quickly, don't let him suffer."
According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary a stroke is a "sudden diminution or loss of consciousness, sensation, and voluntary motion caused by rupture or obstruction (as by a clot) of an artery of the brain."
I don't see God anywhere in the equation, a stroke can strike a man while he is helping out in a soup kitchen, or it can strike a lady while she is involved in an orgy.
I don't know where the Rev. Pat Robertson got his theology degree, but he needs to take a remedial class in human compassion. When someone is deathly ill, you offer prayers of support, not words of condemnation.
