St. Louis has always been a place where management has brought in people that can help teams compete and back on August 2nd 2005, it was no different.

August 2nd 2005, will go down in St. Louis Blues Hockey history as the day that All-Star and potential Hall Of Famer Chris Pronger was traded to the Edmonton Oilers for Eric Brewer, Doug Lynch and Eric Woywitka. “I was at home watching a movie with my wife, I got a call from our GM in Edmonton and we chatted for awhile.” said Brewer about his activities at the time he found out about the trade. Brewer went on to comment about his initial thoughts of having to replace a guy like Pronger, “ initially I was disappointed to be traded, I have lots of friends in Edmonton and a great team. After the initial day, I got over it, I’ve been traded before.”

During the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics of 2002, Brewer was a key member of Team Canada picking up a pair of goals including a game winner for the team. “There is a lot of talented players to choose from. You have to adjust, when you miss 4 ½ weeks after getting hurt, you don’t get back in the picture,” said Brewer about not being invited to compete with Team Canada in Turin. Since the Olympic rosters were announced, a lot of analyst across the world have talked about how Sid “The Kid” Crosby wasn’t named to Team Canada but that Todd Bertuzzi was, “Bertuzzi was absolutely the right choice. He has a dimension of game, tons of experience, and is a huge talent in the NHL. You have to go with guys who have preformed consistently,” said Brewer.

Every athlete who steps onto their prospective area of play has his or her own strengths, “I am a good skater, aggressive player, and I am not scared to make plays," said Brewer. The new rules changes have taken a toll on players like Brewer this season, “They cause problems with me being an aggressive player. You have to worry about getting a whistle, a lot more now. It’s all about position on the ice,” said Brewer. Like every other athlete, Brewer also has personal weaknesses, “Sometimes when I’m out on the ice, I tend to think to much,” said Brewer.

As of January 6, 2005, Brewer has 6 (G) and 3 (A), which are sure to go up in numbers. The bottom line when it comes to the future of St. Louis, is that Blues fans should be very happy to have the quality like Brewer on the roster.

Shoot or Pass (S = Agrees , P = Doesn’t Agree)

No choice = I would trade the Olympic Gold for a Stanley Cup.

P = Blues/Blackhawks is the best rivalry I’ve been part of over Islanders/Rangers and Oilers/Flames. *Chose Oilers/Flames

P = I will pickup my 1st career Hat Trick this season.
