Ways To Lose Weight

Any sufferer of weight gain or obesity is always on the lookout for ways to lose the excess poundage. And anyone who has lost weight successfully will want to tell you exactly how they did it and how their plan or program can work for you. Everyone is different, however, and the causes of weight gain for you may not be the same as for your friend. Furthermore, the steps that you must take once the weight is off will not necessarily be the same.

When you truly decide to lose your extra weight, you have to go through several steps and develop a plan that works for you. You may to experiment a bit, but that is normal. No one way will work for everyone – if it did, no one would have the problem and there would not be so many options.

1. The first step is to determine, as best you can, the cause of your weight gain or continued overweight condition. There may be physical and/or emotional causes, and no weight loss program will be successful unless you are able to treat the causes as well as the current condition.

2. You may want to try a low-fat or a low-carb diet. These work for some individuals, but they mean giving up some of the foods you really like, so be certain you have the self-control to stick with it. I have a friend who went on a very low-fat diet 6 days a week. On the 7th day, he rewarded himself by allowing more fat into his diet. He ate one of the things he truly loved and missed. In this way, he continued to lose weight but had the reward of that one day.

3. Exercise more. Any exercise will burn calories, and burning more calories than you take in means loss of weight. If you are not physically able to engage in aerobic exercise in the beginning, start with walking, increasing the pace and the length gradually. Walking can turn into jogging eventually, and once you are jogging successfully, you can begin more energetic forms of exercise.


4. Eat high fiber foods. These will assist you with expelling more food naturally.

5. Do not eat after 7:00 pm at night. Everything you eat after 7 will sit in your stomach to be absorbed by your body while you are sleeping. You will not burn any of it off.

6. Consider weight loss products. Be careful here. These are not panaceas that will take off weight while you do nothing. Most of these involve caffeine or some other approved stimulant to get your metabolism going at a faster rate. The faster your rate of metabolism, the more calories you burn. Some of these can make you nervous and anxious, however, so theyare not for everyone.

7. Diet Liquid Drinks: These are good to use for an entire meal once, maybe twice, a day. Look at the labels and be certain that there are adequate nutritional contents, so that you are not giving up important vitamins and minerals in doing this.

8. Tell others you are dieting. It is important that family and friends know what you are doing so that they can refrain from tempting you. One husband only ate forbidden foods at work, so that his wife never saw them in the house or him eating them.

9. Herbal methods work for some people. Any Internet search for herbal diet aids will bring up a wealth of information of supplements that have worked for others.

This is a huge list of things to do. The great thing is there are so many options and so many things to try. Don’t get discouraged if the first method doesn’t work for you – one of them will!
