“Hillary is Qualified”, Don’t Go There Mr. Bush

Ken Hughes
If I were Hillary I would be very nervous, half the Bush administration officials are behind her and the other half is touting Barrack Obama. If I were the Democrats I would be worried. After seven years telling the public what a bunch of buffoons these people are and now to have the Bush Boys in the Democrats corner is scary to say the least. I would be afraid some of that moronic dust they’re covered with would rub off if they get to close.

I don’t really think Bush or Rove are actually supporting either Clinton or Obama. I’m sure in true media fashion they were ask about the leading Democratic candidates and they gave an off the cuff opinion. Then in true media fashion again the first distortion begets the next thousand distortions.

No one is more aware than the media “Words are the Crown Jewels of Politics.” It’s not always what’s said or how it’s said but how it can be interpreted then redefined. There’s very little spontaneity among politicians.

Their words are parsed by experts before the candidates ever open their mouths. Politicians are very aware not only can words bring success for the candidate words can just as easley destroy their careers. Politicians walk a fine line balancing between what they want the voters to hear and what the voters want to hear or what the voters think they hear.

There’s no better example of trying to satisfy every voters wishes on every issue than listening to Hillary Clinton alter her positions to fit her audience. This practice isn’t unique to Hillary Clinton many politicians are guilty of such conduct. This conduct comes from politicians not believing their own propaganda. For all of their outward bravado inside they’re a bowl of jelly.

Their future depends on what they say and how it’s interpreted. Politicians must always be on their best behavior when in public, behind the seams it’s another story politicians are notoriously ill-tempered to the point of being out of control at times.

It seems the problem is politicians have so little confident in themselves they don’t believe the voters can have any trust either. It’s apparent politicians don’t trust the public the way they sugarcoat their promises and side step the serious issues. I think it’s called the Washington Two Step or Tango, something like that.

As rapidly as politicians drift to the seamier side the public goes in the other direction. Technology is pushing America forward at an unprecedented pace. People have become interested in the advancement in science and are taking advantage of all the new toys available to them. As the public adapts to the new world around them they can’t help but reflect on what they were told in the past. How America was on the verge of destruction and if one or the other political parties were allowed control over the government surely the wheels would come off.. What the people are discovering is the government isn’t much more than a giant parasite sucking the economic blood out of the nation by excessive spending over regulation and of unwarranted taxation.

The 2008 election will be a wake up call for incumbent congressmen and women who’ve based their reelection campaigns on cleaning up past messes as they see them and new progressive government programs. Many will curse the day they uttered the words “more taxes.” People may not be ready to dress up like Indians and throw bags of Starbucks Coffee into Boston Harbor but they are paying attention. The voters can show their contempt for a congress stuck in the 20th century who refuse to move forward by sending them home and bringing in new fresh group.

America needs men and women in congress who understand the new technologies of the 21st century, men and woman willing to work for their place in the congress and not buy it with empty promises and wasteful spending on unwarranted programs.

Here are some of the things that won’t elect congress and presidents in the future, Media Pundits, negative advertising, televised debates, special interest block voters, celebrity endorsements to mention a few. A “Support Hilly the New York Hillbilly’et” bumper sticker will probably attract more attention than a Barbara Streisand telethon.

It’s time for congress and potential presidents to wise up and realize “things they are a changing.” what [was] yesterday isn’t going to be tomorrow. The public is moving on with new technologies leading them. This country can’t survive in a vacuum with 20th century partisan politics guiding the way.

Come 2008, vote for change don’t waste votes on incumbents. There are good men and women waiting for an opportunity to serve, give those new guys and gals a chance.
