Why many Americans are Clones without Original Thoughts

Patrick Lockyer
All too often the American child is cosseted and kept within the confines of the family budget and is required to mirror the attitudes and issues of the parent in order to be given their first car and to be allowed to take their girl friends to their room and to be able to get to college and on to University. The likelihood of the child being of a different mind from the parent is unlikely as they would be subjected to financial constraints so the average American child is shaped and molded to be an absolute re generation of the original. That then shows in everything that follows and is maybe the reason for the complete division of America. There seems to be two separate clones, one in the North and one in the South? I have found in my six years that you can almost put a safe bet on how each clone will respond to questions on abortion, gay marriage, Barbra Streisand, Jane Fonda, Ted Kennedy, Bill Clinton, Border Control, They will never step away from their roots on any subject as it scares them to be different. They are kept in an enclosure all through their lives and the trend is just passed on and on. They will be expected to meet and marry similar clones and so and so forth. Money, success, sameness and acceptance in their particular group is essential to keeping the trend and the financial success going. Not to comply to this way of going forward is to be a 'drop out' a 'deadbeat' or a bum. There is no breaking away and there is no 'freedom of thought'. The only time you see a likelihood of 'resistance' and rebellion is in the real rich and famous and in celebrity families where they know they will get some financial assistance even if rebellious just as in the case of the 'Bounty Hunter' recently. In that case the child recorded his dad being a bigot and a racist and brought that man down in an instant. His whole show was withdrawn. Such is the power of the celebrity child.

In comparing my own upbringing and my children's I see a huge difference. The fact that most of the children I was brought up with would not get any college or University education beyond age fifteen made a huge difference. I was leaving home to work and was pretty much independent of my parents at an early age and they had little influence on my views. My mother was a Trade Unionist and I hated that kind of control. Had I been an American child no doubt I would have had to accept and endorse all that my parents stood for. I did not and was able to debate almost everything under the sun with my mother. My father was too deep to communicate and so I made my own mind up about life and the need of the universe. My mother argues with me that we were superior to all the other species on this planet because we had souls and consciences and I counter argued that that was just a level of understanding and education. We had been able to use tools to prepare our food and that had allowed an evolution of needing less muscle in our heads to eat as is documented and allowed our brains to develop and with that we had risen above and eliminated all our natural enemies. Had we not discovered weapons such as bows and arrows we might have been exterminated off the planet? We also had our species in isolated islands in the 50's practicing cannibalism with no such signs of souls and consciences. My point is that the social system in England lent itself to independent thought and I was not kept to my parents shortsightedness but was able to go beyond that. I know that American children are much more educated and bright in grammar etc but as to seeing the whole picture and being able to see things from a different perspective I don't think they are as likely to be able to do that. Brits are not on such a treadmill in their youth and learn just as much by both having the time and the diversity to seek new horizons. Brits do not live to work like Americans but work to live. They are less likely to want to stay behind to get on better than their workmates and are more likely to seduce those same people to go play. Unions are not needed in the UK as there is more job security. There is less fear of old age and ill health bills so in fact there is less stress related ill health. People are more on a par with each other in the UK and they admire 'huge wealth' less. They are less likely to drool over a celebrity and more likely to respond to gross opulence and a hummer parked in amongst their more frugal modes of transport with a good old fashion 'keying' whereas here, even the less fortunate will fall to their knees and polish the bumper?

I see the youth of UK as a lot of independent unruly and diverse beings that are mostly well rounded. They would not stand by and see a person badly treated on the streets without responding. Tasing would not be tolerated as there would be a public outcry and the police have to tow the line much more in the public eye and as there is much more done on foot they cannot help being noticed. The city center is full to the brim with people walking the streets and the malls and people congregate and there are not huge ‘no go’ areas as there are here. The newspapers are more honest and give more level opinions. The pubs are full of conversation and people are proud to be different whereas people are scared to be different here and afraid to speak their minds. People at work will have diverse opinions and be able to voice them and still work together and be friends.

I see people here are not getting out except to eat. They retire to their little boxes in their churches and have no other way of fellowship. Fellowship is on the streets in the UK and is in the cafes and in the Pubs. You will find so many different opinions on most things but you will mostly find acceptance of things that are not here. There is more acceptance of multi national opinion. More acceptance of diverse opinion. More acceptance of different dress. More acceptance of Pro Choice. More acceptance of Gay Rights. More acceptance of free speech. Maybe having no guns means having more confidence in differing opinions.

My two girls are completely different from each other and the three step sons even more so. All their friends are different and very opinionated. There are still bigots and racists in the UK but the most aired opinions are on a par. Most people were NOT in favor of invading a sovereign nation and most thought Blair had to go and were ABLE to bring that thought to an action. Most Brits are against guns and most policemen are against being armed? Most Brits think that we have shown bias in the treatment or sanction of treatment of occupied Arab nations. Most Brits live like each other. They do not have big cars or many cars or swimming pools or mansions but live mostly in two up two down residences in good harmony. They are less likely to look down their noses at the neighbor out of work with two kids on benefits. They mostly drive compact cars and one to a family. They are more likely to know the names of all their neighbors and to have spent time helping out in some way or other with any hardships. They are more likely to stand up for each other and would prosecute to the hilt bad treatment and even if it was to someone of a different skin. I only see it getting worse as America remains inside its cars and inside its churches and inside its workplaces never to get out to rant and debate their differences. Barnes & Noble and Starbucks are the only hope for the future.
