The way that dad brought up children
One day a very small thing made a lasting impression on him and laid a foundation of how to educate his children for his whole life.
In 1970s, dad worked in a small town. Everyday, dad would see a young boy who was about 10 years old, would carry two big thermos bottles to take hot water from the public boiler room. There was a very big ditch between the boys house and the boiler room, the boy always walked very careful when he across the ditch. At that time, most china families were very poor. Thermos bottles were very expensive, and two thermos bottles would almost cost half month of a whole families'living expenses. The boy knew how expensive those two bottles were, so he always protected his thermos bottles very carefully. Sometimes, even he would stumble over stones; he always holds his thermos bottles tightly and not bumped his thermos bottles against the ground.
One day, it was a cold snowing day, the road was iced. While crossing the ditch, the boy suddenly slipped and fell down heavily. The thermos bottles plunged to the ground. The boy quickly climbed up and checked his thermos bottles. But unfortunately, two thermos bottles were all broken.
Dad suddenly saw that, he quickly run to the boy, helped the boy pick up his thermos bottles and decided to send the boy home, dad thought, he saw what happened to the boy, if the boy's family criticized him, he could explain to them.
When the boy came back home, he said to his mother:"Mom, I slipped and fell down just now......" his mother rushed to him and checked carefully the boy's whole body and asked anxiously:"Do you injure yourself?" When she saw the boy had the skin rubbed off his hand, she rushed to look for the medicines and applied to the boy's hands. She even did not look at those thermos bottles. After she checked very carefully and knew the boy was well, she started to listen to dad.
Dad explained what happened. The kind lady said:" The luckiest thing is that the child is well. Child is the most important thing, not the thermos bottles."
The boy started to cry loudly, the kind lady hold the boy in her arms and said softly:"I know it is only a accident, it is not your fault."
Children are always the most important thing, not the thermos bottles. Dad learned how to bring up children.
