Britney Spears Most-Searched For Name On Yahoo

For the third time in four years, pop star Britney Spears topped Yahoo's annual list of the most-searched for names on the Internet.
Unfortunately, Britney Spears perfectly captures the essence of America -- all style and no substance.
The pop princess did not release a CD containing new materiel this year, but we don't honor achievement as much as we do notoriety. Britney remained in the news by marrying a cad, having a baby and arranging many photo-ops.
Britney is a born again Christian, but she dresses like a whore and has a penchant for quick marriages that end in disaster.
In her religious identification and behavior she also captures the spirit of the times, nominally we are a Christian nation, but Christianly does not have a hold on the American imagination.
Self-avowed born again Christians like Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson are quite a bit sluttier than the average American. Why can't fundamentalists stop being hypocrites and simply admit that it's impossible to live according to the rigid moral dictates of the Bible?
Britney is not a an innovator like Madonna, or a gifted vocalist like Christina Aguillera, she simply sings pop ditties that get stuck in your mind like bubblegum.
