Josh Bernstein Kicked off his stint at Discovery Channel;

Josh Bernstein {formally of the hit show Digging for the Truth on the History Channel} kicked off his stint on Discovery Channel tonight with a sidebar to the movie Super Storm called, "Can we Control The Weather"?. {Which aired August 5th on Discovery Channel}.

According to one watcher, Josh looked really good walking around New York being himself. He demonstrates that he is not only good looking but that he has the smarts to understand and actually make the scientific data easy to understand for the viewer, not to mention that he enjoys being hands on with the experiments provided.

Testing his footing in the realm of Discovery Networks Josh started out with this offering, which he has called the appetizer with his own series to be the main course in Feb '08. A bit dramatic in the voice over or maybe over enthused about the information he wants to get across to the viewer, Either way by the end of the show he is back to being the same ol' Josh his fans know and love, No mirror work needed here ladies and gentleman. Although some of his fans will be disappointed at the lack of camera time vs what he used to have on DFT but that might change when his actual own show{s} are up and running in Feb '08.

As usual Josh does not disappoint the viewer, he draws you in with his tone, personality and ability to make you want to help, want to get involved in the cause, want to know/understand what he's talking about.

He looks good, rested, goofy, silly, experiences a Slip~N~Slide as he goes down in 85 mile an hour winds to demonstrate standing in Hurricaine force winds, they even let him play with explosives{silver iodine flares} to demonstrate cloud seeding. He got to fire 2/4's at windows that were supposedly hurricaine glass, which looks doubtful and for a city like New York that has probably millions of glass windows, makes you think when walking down 5th avenue.

What is the downside of playing god with the weather? They are better known as Climate Engineers, but the better question would be, who would control the thermostat of such ability and what are the ramifications of changing the climate to suit the needs of one country or for one season's worth of crops to feed the starving in Africa? Does living with the possibility of more and more major hurricaines of catagory 4 or higher make living in the shadow of an Earthquake of 7 or higher more provocative to more and more people?

I grew up in Asia, I've lived through my share of Typhoons, {the Asian version of a Hurricaine and also something you don't want to expereince}, maybe that's why I always tell people I'll take an Earthquake over a Hurriciane or Tornado any day, Earthquakes aren't as scary as many think as long as you are prepared and live in an old wood framed house.

All and All the show provided some new information for viewers to discuss/mull, with Hurricaine season upon us again but nothing new that those who live through them every year didn't know, even if the show was more about the government's ability to control the weather and ongoing processes to do so.

All and All it was a good start, had a lot of good information and with hurricaine season fast aproching Discovery really should ruin it again.
