Bob Dylan The DJ?

Robert Paul Reyes
Bob Dylan may have earned millions in his long and distinguished career, but he speaks for the working man, the disenfranchised and all those who fight "The Man."

At least he did at one time, but the singer-songwriter, former counterculture figure and voice of a generation now speaks for "Victoria's Secret" and to add insult to injury, he will soon be plying a new trade: DJ.

The folk singer will host a weekly show on XM Satellite Radio, only on an unearthly radio network would you hear Bob Dylan the DJ.

Dylan will select the tunes, interview guests, answer e-mail from his fans and make prank phone calls. I'm only kidding about the prank phone calls, I hope.

How the mighty have sold out, hearing that Bob Dylan will be a DJ is like finding out that Mother Teresa spent her last years crooning songs on the Calcutta Karaoke circuit.

The Times may be A-Changing but it's not "We Shall Overcome" that I hear, it's the ka-ching of the cash register.

I'm afraid to tune in to Dylan the DJ, I'm terrified he may play the latest pop ditties of Britney Spears, Mariah Carey and Ashley Simpson.

I'm going to play "Blond on Blond" on my old record player, and shed a few tears lamenting the fall of another icon from my youth.
