Legislative ‘Report Card’ Shows Lawmaker’s Support for Hard-Working Taxpayers.

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Bob Dutton (R-Rancho Cucamonga) has said many times that he would protect the rights of taxpayers while in Sacramento.

Now the Inland Empire senator has the record to prove it. The California Taxpayers’ Association announced this week that Senator Dutton scored a perfect 100 percent by their criteria, showing strong support for the taxpayers of this state.

Californians should be proud of the lawmakers who consistently protect hard-working residents from being forced to pay higher taxes,” said Teresa Casazza, acting president of the California Taxpayers’ Association. “Legislators who score 100 percent on taxpayers’ issues are standing with the people, and they deserve recognition for fending off the vocal special interests that believe the government should be taking even more of our money.”

The Cal-Tax Voting Record, available online at www.caltax.org, is compiled annually to provide Californians with a valuable tool to determine how state legislators acted on major tax and fiscal legislation, and to hold elected officials accountable for anti-taxpayer votes.

I believe we have a responsibility to protect taxpayer dollars,” Senator Dutton said. “I have said many times that this state doesn’t have a revenue problem, but has a spending problem. As a result, I haven’t voted for any legislation that will raise the taxes on hard-working California residents.

I also work hard to make sure the money sent to us by California taxpayers is spent the way it is intended,” Senator Dutton continued. “I appreciate the efforts of the California Taxpayers’ Association in protecting the rights of all taxpayers in this state.”

The cost of government in California, the level of taxation and the operation of the tax system are highly quantifiable measures that affect the budgets of all families. Job-creating businesses also evaluate these factors thoroughly before deciding whether to open or expand in California.

Of the 120 members of the Legislature, 30 were in agreement with Cal-Tax on all key tax issues. Those 30 lawmakers included 29 Republicans and one Democrat.

The California Taxpayers’ Association is a non-partisan organization established in 1926 to fight for taxpayers’ rights, to guard against unnecessary taxation and to promote government efficiency.
