What could be worse than being 20 pounds overweight? How about having lost 20 pounds, then gaining back 30 pounds six months later? Is there any sane way to lose the weight and truly “keep it off”? You bet there is and here’s how to do it.

Step 1:

Once your have reached your ideal body weight and dimensions, write these numbers down in a journal. This way you will always have a realistic and fact-based reference for your ideal size. Weight yourself once per week to insure that you are still at least within four pounds of your ideal size.

Step 2:

Go out and buy a nice set of close fitting clothing that does not contain any latex or stretchable fabric. For example, buy a classy pair of jeans that fit close, but not tight on your body. Try on this close-fitting outfit once a week to ensure that you are not expanding beyond your ideal size.

Step 3:

Decide how much you need to exercise each day to maintain your ideal size, write this number down in your journal, and commit to exercising this amount each day, or as frequently as needed to maintain your ideal size.

Step 4:

Pick the top four foods that kick your eating habits into over drive and cause you to tip the scales. Write these foods down in your journal. Only eat one of these weight gain-inducing foods per day and in moderation.

Step 5:

Monitor your health habits on a regular basis. The key reason diets work is because people, or someone like their trainer or doctor, are finally paying attention to what they are doing to their bodies and the immediate and long term consequences of these actions.

So, to keep your weight loss a true success, stay in the self-monitoring mindset, and the unwanted post-diet weight gain will not happen to you.
