I know the following is ugly -- What was Larry Craig doing with his RIGHT HAND?

James Nimmo
I watched the Lauer/NBC interview earlier this month with Larry Craig earnestly peddling his innocence. The senior GOPer senator from Idaho has a peculiar intensity of speaking and a staring of the eyes that seems a bit zombie-like. But that's another article.

What occurred to me while watching is this:

In both the police tape and in the Lauer interview there is agreement that the undercover policeman was in the stall to the right of Larry Craig.

They both agree that Craig reached to the floor with his left hand, the policeman noting the ring and the thumb placement.

Now, I know the following is ugly but take a deep breath: with Larry Craig allegedly sitting on the toilet, he reached around to the area of the stall divider with his LEFT hand to the RIGHT side of his body moving the left hand towards the floor across and below his body.

In my mind this is an awkward move to make and not very convenient if we are to take at face value the statement of Larry Craig.

What was Craig doing with his RIGHT HAND that he could not make the more natural movement of allegedly picking up a piece of toilet paper on the right side of the plumbing fixture?

Am I making a clear picture in my reader's mind?
