WWE's Bret "Hitman" Hart DVD [Review]

History has been recorded for many years. From the fall of Rome, to the American Civil War, history has recorded many great tales from the past.

In the world of professional wrestling great history has also been recorded. The World Wrestling Entertainment, and Bret Hart, have collaborated to record one of the most respectful, talented, and famous wrestlers of all time, Bret ?Hitman? Hart.

The title of the DVD is ?Bret Hart: the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be.? Which is fitting considering Bret Hart is easily one of the top five professional wrestlers of all time in anyone?s opinion.

Bret Hart was born to a traditional wrestling family in which every man, whether born or married in the family, were wrestlers and every female were married to wrestlers. The DVD starts out talking about Bret?s upcoming and how he was in the amateur ranks of wrestling. Bret explains how he wanted to make his father proud, and the only way he could do that was wrestle.

Bret started to wrestle professionally with his father?s promotion, Stampede Wrestling, in Canada. The DVD shows clips of a skinny Bret Hart literally getting his butt kicked. As the DVD progresses with Bret?s time in Stampede Wrestling, it shows wrestlers that would also be future WWE superstars. The likes of the Bushwackers, Dynamite Kid, and Davey Boy Smith.

The DVD continues as Bret explains how Stampede Wrestling was bought by Vince McMahon. Bret would also explain a situation on how he became the ?Hitman,? in which he was originally supposed to be ?Cowboy? Bret Hart, but the gimmick didn?t fit; therefore, with the help of a famous boxer, Bret Hart became the ?Hitman.?

During his time in the WWE, Bret would explain his days as a tag-team technician with his tag-team partner, Jim ?Anvil? Neidhart. Both of these men, combined with wrestling manager, Jimmy Hart, would form one of the best and infamous tag-teams in professional wrestling history, the Hart Foundation.

Bret would later explain that he wanted to be let go from the tag-team and wrestle in singles competition. During the old days of the WWE, there were only three title belts?World, Intercontinental, and Tag-team?in which Bret held all three of those titles, which was rare to do since Hulk Hogan had the world title the majority of the time.

An interesting segment was Bret Hart talking about Ric Flair and how he won the title from him. Bret comments about how Ric Flair was a good wrestler, in good shape, but did a few moves that were out of blue. I noticed that Bret never said anything derogatory about Flair, unlike Flair who takes his time to say ?Bret Hart never made Vince McMahon any money.? Right, and Flair just had a coup of merchandise sales during his reign as WWE champion, give me a break.

Bret talks about his feuds with the likes of his brother Owen, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Roddy Piper, Davey Boy Smith, Kevin Nash, and of course Shawn Michaels.

It?s interesting to hear Bret Hart?s feud with Shawn Michaels, because you expect Bret to say some derogatory statements, but he doesn?t. Bret complained that after his match with Michaels at Wrestlemania XII, that Michael?s ego got too big and ordered the referee to ?get him [Bret] out of the ring,? while Michaels celebrated alone in the ring.

The DVD continued with Bret?s ?screwjob? in Montreal. The ?screwjob? was concise, but it?s interesting to note that the deal with WCW and Bret Hart was orchestrated by Vince McMahon himself. A lot of strange things happened during that time, and more answers have surfaced in this DVD. Another strange segment from Vince McMahon is he admits that what he did was wrong, and he, and Bret, regret the screw job event from ever occurring; however, you never hear a peep from Shawn Michaels.

One poignant segment in the DVD is of course the Owen Hart chapter in the DVD. Bret talks about how he wish he was in the company when Owen died. You can?t help but have a feeling of sympathy for Bret, especially since the late Eddie Guerrero just passed away.

The DVD continues with his WCW lackluster days and to his untimely retirement as a professional wrestler.

The World Wrestling Entertainment has orchestrated some great DVD?s of some of the legends in the WWE. So far, I have purchased, and enjoyed, Jake Roberts? DVD, Ultimate Warrior?s DVD, and of course Bret Hart?s DVD. Hopefully, the WWE are in the process of making more biography styled DVD?s of legendary wrestlers. If I could suggest a few legends that I personally would love to see a DVD biography of would be: Ted Dibiase, Hulk Hogan, Demolition, Roddy Piper, Randy Savage, and Shawn Michaels.

The Bret Hart DVD is perfect for any fan of professional wrestling, Bret Hart, or during the days of early WWE. The Bret Hart story is a tale of rises and falls, and hopefully the Bret Hart story isn?t over in the realm of professional wrestling. Despite that Bret Hart may not work for the WWE, I, as well as other wrestling fans, hope that Bret Hart will play a role in TNA.

One thing is for sure, Bret Hart is in fact, the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be, there?s no one like Bret ?Hitman? Hart.

Bret Hart: Best there is, best there was, best there ever will be = 10 out of 10.
