Don`t Think Exercise! Think Fun and Bring The Pressure Down
Am I talking your language now? Let`s sit up then and see how this article can help you get motivated.
First, you need to discuss with your GP which is the right exercise, or if you prefer, "fun" program to suit your physical ability, level of hypertension, and medication. Be aware too that you will only start seeing a significant drop in blood pressure at about 6 - 8 weeks of exercise. But who cares! When you`re having fun those weeks will just fly by.
To motivate yourself further, award yourself with a new racket if you`ve taken up tennis, or a night out dancing to practice your dance routine, and so on.
Clinical trials have proven that aerobic exercise has an added health benefit. A routine of moderate intensity is best for reducing systolic and diastolic pressure. The exercise is vigorous but without becoming breathless. To be precise, 60% of your maximum ability.
If your muscles are a bit stiff, work them supple by leaving the car at home and cycling, walking, or using public transport. It works a treat.
Talking about walking, have you heard Gary Long`s story? He had a weight problem. He was 380lbs when he decided to make a major change in his lifestyle. It was either that or face an early death, because he was suffering from diabetes, congestive heart failure, an enlarged heart, acid reflux and high blood pressure in addition to his obesity.
Gary decided to walk across America after being inspired by Steve Vaught, and successfully, accomplished his fete. What kept Gary motivated? He had a motto, "Keep on Walking, one foot in front of the other ", and that`s exactly what he did. He is a healthy man now who works out regularly at the gym and isn`t dependent on medication any more. In fact, he left an encouraging letter for visitors on my website to motivate them, with news of hosting a pending radio program, and a free, three day, boot camp at the gym to help others get started on that road to better health.
Gary`s story is exceptional, but it proves that exercise is an ideal way to loose weight. So why not take it up to control your blood pressure and have fun at the same time?
