Eight Reasons to Love Lakeway, TX

Sam Chapman
1) Location – Lakeway is about 40 minutes west of downtown on beautiful Lake Travis. Situated in the Central Texas Hill Country, Lakeway isn’t what most people picture when they think of Texas.

2) Lake Travis – all you need to do is look at the clear, blue-green water and you’ll immediately see why Lake Travis is the gem of the Highland Lakes. Sailing, motor boating, water skiing, bass fishing and scuba diving are just a few things to do on Lake Travis.

3) Golf – with four golf courses, with being Jack Nicklaus designs, Lakeway is a great golf community. Want more golf? Three other courses are within 15 minutes.

4) Lakeway City Park – sitting on Lake Travis, the park has miles of walking trails, a sandy beach, a swimming dock, grills, benches, a pavilion, a sandy volleyball court two kids play areas and a doggy park. During the summer, there are movies in the park.

5) Greenbelts – Lakeway has several terrific greenbelts. The Hilton Greenbelt I and II starts with a path of crushed granite and changes later to primitive trails. The greenbelt follows Hurt Creek all the way to Lake Travis. The new trails behind the World of Tennis provide more miles of hiking through hills and canyons.

6) Lakeway Swim Park – need a place to cool off? The Swim Park has a heated pool, a kiddie area with fountains and a water slide, a climbing wall, picnic tables, large shade umbrellas, a concessions area, CanyonLands Hiking and a new skate park.

7) Lakeway Airpark – a private facility with a runway of almost 4,000 feet, the Airpark is a place to be used by Lakeway residents and guests.

8) The Lakeway Spa & Resort – what once was a tired, old facility has been revamped into a great place for meetings and weekends at the lake. After a lot of money and months of work, the Lakeway Spa & Resort now has four beautiful pools, a spa, two restaurants and a 5,000 square foot ballroom for meetings, fundraisers, weddings and more. The balconies sit around 150 feet above Lake Travis and provide spectacular views.
