WWE Monday Night RAW report for 9-10-07
him in in a match with The Great Khali later on in the evening. JBL was at his best on the mic and makes me miss him more and more as an in ring wrestler. Then the attorney for the mother of Vince's illegitimate child appears and informs McMahon that the identity will be revealed later in the evening much to the disdain of Mr. McMahon.
Cade and Murdoch make their way to the ring for Cade's one on one match with Paul London. London and Kendrick are probably the best tag team of their craft since The Rockers in the late 90's. The match is fast paced and really shows you what a good wrestling match is all about. Matches like these showcase why WWE RAW is and has been the number one cable show since 1993. Kendrick sneaks in and puts away Cade long enough for London to make the pin. London wins by pin fall.
A recap of the past few weeks activity between Orton and Cena airs concluding in the beat down of GM William Regal. Coach is later heard saying that Regal is recovering but won't be able to return anytime soon...like say until his suspension is up at least.
A recap of the HHH and Umaga encounter from last week is shown where HHH completely destroyed Umaga. I for one loved how the angle was done and am looking forward to seeing HHH vs Umaga down the road once Umaga's suspension is done.
HHH is headed to the ring to await his opponent of Carltio's choosing. Turns out it's Shelton Benjamin who holds two wins over the Game but tonight will not make it three and HHH puts Shelton down for the one, two, three!! Shelton is by far one of the best they have on the roster no matter which show he is on.
HHH wins by pin fall but he has little time to enjoy his victory as Carlito tries to sneak in with a chair but HHH sees him coming and Carlito makes a mad dash up the ramp. Coach appears to announce that the match at Unforgiven between HHH and Carlito is a no disqualification match which brings a smile to the face of HHH. But then Coach adds that the no DQ rule is for Carlito only. HHH can still be disqualified in the match. I like this stipulation for this match, it will make the match that much better knowing HHH has to be by the book but Carlito doesn't.
Randy Orton is in the ring now addressing the crowd of how he will be WWE Champion come this Sunday and that John Cena is banned from the building and is probably at home watching RAW with his injured dad. When all of a sudden the crowd goes crazy because Cena is coming through the fans to the ring. At least a dozen security surround the ring and they can't stop Cena. He is a wild man and will get his revenge at Unforgiven. Of course you can't expect much from security wearing pink shirts. These guys didn't even earn the minimum wage they were being paid that night.
A commercial for The Rocks new movie is shown and it's a Disney movie. That pretty muich means his film career is in trouble or over if he is down to doing Disney movies.
Up next is a Divas match. Candice comes out to sit at ringside and I can't stand her new techno music. Like chewing on tin foil as my good friend Tommy Chronic would say. The match is between Jillian and Mickie James. Two Divas that are well trained and work pretty good together. However this match was slow and should of been much better than the way it turned out. Mickie scores the win only to be attacked by Beth Phoenix who then attacks Jillian as well. Candice slides in the ring but is quickly taken out and Beth Phoenix is standing tall making belt gestures around her waist as she is facing Candice for the WWE Women's Championship this Sunday.
Now a commercial for Steve-O's new show that is set to debut after RAW in October airs and is it just me or is he trying to recapture the magic of Jackass again. I doubt this show will make it more than 5 episodes. Steve-O, give it up bro and get a real job.
Santino Marella is in the ring for his match against The Sandman. Although Marella is still improving his ring skills, his mic skills are great. He has a great sense of humor and plays an excellent heel. The Sandman makes his way to the ring and the match is short with Sandman winning by disqualification when Marella grabs the Sandman's kendo stick and swings it at Sandman. However Sandman does take a nasty head first bump on the outside after he attempts a cross body onto Marella. Maria and Ron Simmions are shown backstage watching this match. Ironically this would be Sandman's last WWE match as he was released two days later. Sandman wins by DQ. Marella furious over his loss makes his way backstage and attacks Simmions and takes Maria away. Now I am very excited to see Simmions back in the ring against Marella because you know this is a beat down coming for Santino.
The 2007 Diva search finalists are shown and I guess this year WWE finally realized that this isn't a ratings getter. All the competitions between the Divas will be exclusive to wwe.com and not on television.
The final Unforgiven card is shown and while it is a nice line-up of matches, it isn't as good as SummerSlam.
The main event match for the evening is now up with Jeff Hardy taking on the seven foot plus Great Khali. Jeff Hardy is quickly put away as his high flying tactics and insane moves can not take down the World Champion. Jeff's hard work results in a vice like grip around his head by Khali's huge hands. Finally the ref calls for the bell to end the madness but Khali has little time for glory as Batista makes his way to the ring. Batista dominates Khali and causes Khali to hightail it up the ramp.
Batista is one of two challengers that will face Khali this Sunday for the title, the other being Rey Mysterio. Which brings me to this question. How come Andre never got a legit title run, Big Show had two title runs that were cut short but Khali gets a decent run as champion. Khali wins by submission.
Now the moment everyone has been waiting for. The identity of Mr. McMahon's son will be revealed to the world. Vince makes his way to the ring followed by every male WWE superstar. The attorney for the mother appears and before he gives the identity away, he gives some clues to who the child isn't. One by one the clues are given and superstars are eliminated. Finally the last clue is Vince's son likes to "Play the Game". The crowd goes nuts thinking HHH is Vince's son. But it is not meant to be as it is revealed he liked to play games like hide and seek and marbles. The mystery son turns out to be Hornswoggle. As HHH and most of the crowd enjoys the good humor, Vince is clearly not amused and to make matters worse Hornswoggle comes out from under the ring to give his new dad a big hug...on his leg. I can only imagine where this story will go from here.
