Breakfast With US Senatorial Candidate Keith Butler
Reverend Butler gave the usual litany of Republican proposals of what he?ll do when he gets to Washington D C. Things we?ve all heard for years. Then came the Q & A session and this is where the Reverend shined. The first question addressed what he would do for the state of Michigan, His answer. ?Nothing? not in the sense the question was being asked. He said it was up to the Governor and the elected officials in Michigan to do for them_selves. What he could do was work to undo many of the regulations placed on industry and commerce that hampers growth in Michigan and the other 49 states.
When Reverend Butler asked what he could do for working men and women to secure health care and retirement programs. He pointed out a person working for $ 45,000 dollars per year in Michigan cost the employer $ 72,000 in real dollars. In Alabama the same figures are $ 45,000 VS $ 60,000 in real money. If we go off_shore those figures drop sharply both in wages and benefits. While the public asks for relief, they continue to demand more for less. Some of the burden lays on the public and not all on government. His short answer was governments can?t provide all of mans needs. Some things they must do for themselves.
Reverend Butler isn?t a token Black Republican, he joined the Republican Party in 1982 and has since worked his way up from Precinct Delegate, through the Detroit City Counsel [4 years] to being a candidate for the U S Senate. It?s taken 23 years to make the journey through a maze of meaningless and meaningful political positions. Along the way he manages to Pastor 21,000 soles in his Southfield Michigan Church, he supervises 200 employees, and council?s untold numbers on how to accept the gifts life offers and not expect your brother to be your provider and keeper.
Reverend Butler answered several questions with forthrightness and what appeared to be honesty of what he believes. In the Q& A I didn?t detect any dodging of the issues, not all his answers satisfied the crowd. All addressed issues America will face in the coming generations. Reverend Butler states Senators Carl Levin, Debby Stabenow, and Governor Jennifer Grandholm are conducting Michigan?s business as though they were back in the 70?s. They insist yesterdays rules apply in today?s economy. That isn?t possible as Reverend Butler pointed out.
The final question, or rather statement came from an obvious Liberal Democratic plant. Or what I would refer to as a Black Racist. He insisted if Reverend Butler wanted the Black vote, he must see to it anyone not white or black be evicted from America. He spoke of foreigners as if they were vermin praying on African Americans. Reverend Butler let him have his say without interruption, knowing that was the mans only purpose was to make a ststment..
Win or lose the state of Michigan has a winner in Reverend Keith Butler.
