One Man's Opinion
In the last seven years our moral standing and respect in the world have evaporated. Today, the United States of America represents the Imperialism and arrogant Colonialism of yesteryear. This is not what the people of our country aspired to.
It appears that there will be no change in the course taken by our president. We will have to live with this sad state of events for another fourteen months. The new government that we, the people of the United States, must elect next year will have to deal with the transgressions of our present leaders.
We must forego unilateral military aggressions against other nations that brought us nothing but loss and grief. I definitely do not propose isolationism, rather judicious cooperation with the rest of the world.
Instead of invasions by our military force, arguably the largest on earth, we need to approach other nations with proposals for “PEACE ATTACKS”…
We should not offer brigades of troops and heavy armament but platoons of highly trained advisors who can assist them in training their military and police forces thus aiding them in stemming rebellions and terrorism in their own countries. The advisors and trainers need to be closely followed by platoons of professional physicians, engineers and farming experts. As soon as an area is cleared of insurgents, the second platoon should be deployed to help people on a very personal level to regain their lives. This would go a long way toward winning back the respect of the world. We must change our present reputation of “bully” to that of a nation truly believing in freedom, one that will lend a hand to people who are longing to achieve their independence.
Unfortunately, the last seven years have perhaps made us the most reviled and hated nation in the world. Al Qaeda is only a segment of terrorists willing to attack the United States. World-wide, millions of volunteers are ready to fight and destroy our way of life.
Is this what we want our government to achieve? Are we proud of our current standing in the world? Are we satisfied with the ever-increasing danger of terrorist attacks in our own country? Are we willing to live in fear of every bag or parcel left unattended on a street corner? Are we willing to continue sending members of our families to foreign shores to serve as buffers in a civil war?
Consider carefully what the people who aspire to lead the United Sates of America into the future are saying, and weigh it carefully before you vote for a candidate. Be sure you choose wisely; your life may depend on it.
