A Billion Here A Billion There, Soon Your Talking Real Money

It’s time Congress reconsiders all those billions of dollars they send to countries who don’t appreciate it, or appreciate us? This nation can no longer afford to support the world. Two thousand and five has been one of the costliest years in the past century. Yet our government continues to offer investment capital, [it’s no longer called Foreign Aid] with no expectations of any return on that invest any time soon.
Where does this investment capital go? 23 % goes to the military of countries whose only enemy is their own people. The guns America sells them are the guns that empower dictators and suppress freedom. The aid that goes for economic development is a waste. Economic development for third world countries comes from Wal-Mart, Sams Clubs, and Home Depot. And in the end by the American consumer.
Due to the policy of America, having a Congress who serves in perpetuity our policy on aid hasn’t changed in over half a century. Our Politicians are living in the past. They view the future through a rear view mirror. Congress negotiates trade agreements written by special interest lobbyists then when the public rejects them as being discriminatory, they blame the President. Congress has gotten President blaming down to a science.
Congress has the ultimate say in what America does and doesn’t do in the world. Presidents suggest, Congress decides. Congress does_not follow a president’s lead blindly. These people know at best presidents only last for eight years. Congress on the other hand is there forever. Here lays the problem we have a Congress whose experiences haven’t kept_up with the times we live in. They’re willing to accept the statues quoi while the rest of the world moves on. This isn’t only nonproductive it’s costly for the American worker and consumer.
According to the Time 2006, Almanac the Unites States has 1,632,000 men and women serving in the military. 302,000 are serving in 42 countries outside the borders of America, an additional 107,000 serve with the UN in peacekeeping operations around the world. I say leave a dozen or so where they are and bring the rest home to protect our own borders We’re being invaded not only by Latinos from the Americas and the Caribbean Islands, also by Europeans and Orientals coming through Canada. Our Southern and Northern neighbors could frankly care less about our problems as long as they aren’t involved.
The President could issue an executive order bringing the troops home and redeploy them on our borders. It would take 30 seconds for his advocacies to demand Impeachment proceedings be brought against him. Congress has used illegal immigration as a political ploy for years. In public they speak of the evils of illegal immigration, in private they admit the necessity for it. 9/11 put a new face on illegal immigration, one many in our government have yet to recognize.
Congress isn’t about to correct any of the long standing practices they encourage, Congress lost it’s way when it adapted a liberal agenda in place of constitutional law. None of the political parties are more or less agenda orientated than the other. In the end it’s we the people who pay the piper.
Term limits [12 years maximum] for Congressional service is in order if we’re to expect our government to join and keep up in the 21st Century
