Kindness, One Act Can Go A Long Way

Judy Ramsook
Acts of kindness can have quite an effect upon one’s soul, spirit, ego and self worth. They can help turn some one who is not having a great day, week or year into a more cheerful person, because the individual performing the act of kindness has an opportunity to see the results of his/her action.

For example, if some one is walking down a busy street and passes an elderly person or one who seems to have walking or spinal disability and something that elderly individual or disabled person is carrying inadvertently drops to the ground, but is quickly picked up by the some one who is performing an act of kindness and gives the item to that less fortunate person, a little feeling creeps into the souls of both individuals.

First, the person who has performed the act of kindness feels good that he/she was in a position to offer assistance and also feels all the more happy when he/she has observed that his/her act was well received by the recepient of the act.

A recepient who may have up until that moment thought that no one would actually care enough to give him/her a few seconds of their time.

But it happened when the kind person on the street picked up and handed that item to the person in the less fortunate position, and as the disabled or elderly person says his/her thank you, a little change takes place within the kind individual.

A change that is indicative of his act of kindness being met with kindness too. With the recepient of the act being visibly grateful, perhaps showing some gratitude with a smile or a simple thank you, so is the person who performed that one simple act of kindness be motivated to doing another simple, everyday thing to make it an easier and less stressful world that we all have to live in.

A world that could be a much more pleasant and less hostile place that it can seem to be at times. And its humans who have to live here among each other. The world will run smoother if there is less hostility and more kindness.

For everyone needs to feel a little cared for every now and again, and it is that thought that he/she is cared for that can make him feel better about himself or a lack of it can make some one feel less happy about his position in this great race known as life. Be kind to one’s fellow man if you can spare a few seconds of your precious time.
