NAACP Wants NFL to Give Michael Vicks a Break

Del Williams
Whenever a black man is involved in some crime, you can be sure that the NAACP will take his side. The NAACP wants the NFL to let Vicks play ball after his prison sentence. Surely, he should have millions of dollars waiting for him as a reward for killing defenseless animals.

I have no beef with the NAACP except they seem to be color blind. I don't mean that in a good way. Blacks need all the "outs" because all the whites hate us kind of thinking.

As a woman first, Vicks should get what he gave those dead dogs. He killed them for not winning, well he is in the middle of his biggest lost. Isn't it only fair that he should get the same treatment? No, that would be inhumane, but please let Vicks off because he learned his lesson (sarcasm).

The killing of animals is usually done by very sick individuals, some who turn into serial killers. So, instead of putting Vicks back on the football field, perhaps the NAACP needs to suggest that he go into treatment.

This was not just Vicks doing, but his "buddies" who somehow talked him into this venture. You know, the buddies that flipped faster than a IHOP pancake cook.

They wanted to save their own butts, so they willingly gave up Vicks. He is the bigger fish that prosecutors are always looking for. They wanted him, and now they have him.

Vicks and all his cohorts should be punished as much as the law allows. It is time for the NFL to stop coddling fools that have more game than brains. They did the crime, so they should do the time.

If the NAACP really wants to send a message, how about one of being people of honor and integrity. How about showing kids that when you have no positive influences around you this is the stupid stuff your "friends" get you into. Or, how about that crime should not be rewarded with multi-million dollar contracts.

It would be refreshing to see the NAACP get on the right side of an issue for once. But, the truth is they only see a black man, and that is their problem.
