Are Democrats Making Saddam’s Case For Him
Lower levels of the CIA and the State Department are not exactly on the Bush team. Under the Clinton administration they were free to practice to Coup d’etat or not to Coup d’etat, foreign polity was pretty much up to the underlings in both the CIA and State Departments. Madeleine Albright spent her time racking up frequent flyer miles to enjoy when she retired.
Along came George and upset their, [CIA and State] apple cart. They were brought back into the mainstream of government much to their dislike. International policy became the domain, first of Colin Powell next of Condi Rice. These arrogant bast**ds from the CIA and State weren’t about to take this new Bush policy laying down. They made friends with their old nemesis the Media. Suddenly there were more leaks coming out of the CIA and State than one finds in an Airport men’s room on a busy day.
This is were the Democratic Congress rears its ugly head. They too are in cahoots with the liberal mainstream media. This entire battle has little to do with who did, or didn’t out Valerie Plame, as a covert CIA Agent which she diffidently wasn’t or divulge secret information. It has everything to do with getting President Bush one more time. The Democratic Congress has spent five of the eight years of President Bush’s terms trying to make him look incompetent, each time they think they have an issue it withers in the winds of truth. If there are shortcomings in our government such as the deficit, congress is responsible for these things. They create and vote for the budget, the president can only approve or veto it. Presidents have little power in domestic affairs. Congress has the first and last word on most domestic issues.
The Special Prosecutor in his statement said his conclusions after the investigation was not an indictment of the Iraq War or leaked information. It was about Lewis Libby lying to the Grand Jury and the FBI. It’s been the media that keeps saying Karl Rove is still under investigation, not the Special Prosecutor. This is an ongoing practice by the media of reporting speculations and not facts.
It wasn’t that long ago Harry Reid and Dick Durbin both disclosed classified information from FBI files on the Senate floor. No Special Prosecutor was called for. No Special Prosecutor should have been called for in the Rove, Libby case. Again, someone’s being prosecuted, not for their original supposed crimes but for statements made to a Grand Jury. This was the case with Bill Clinton, Martha Stewart, and Ollie North.
President Bush could put an end to the foolishness of Special Prosecutors by pardoning Karl Rove, Lewis Libby, and Tom Delay. Then go to the American People and tell them enough of this destruction of peoples lives to satisfy a Democratic Congress appetite for headlines and TV appearances. To paraphrase Plato,
To ask neighbors to diagnose a friends illness, is as illogical as asking them to evaluate a neighbors politics.
This entire Comedy is for the benefit of those in the Washington Beltway, the public’s forced to watch. So it goes in a Democracy.
