Teens, There Are Some Well Behaved Ones Out There

Judy Ramsook
There are some people in our midst who are reluctant to frequent places that contain large crowds, and although some individuals might not come into contact with such crowds on a regular basis, it’s that one time when one is out there at some public event that he/she might encounter something quite unexpected.

So say one is enjoying himself/herself at that event whether he happens to be sitting in the nose bleed section of the stadium or somewhere closer to the performers on stage or athletes, and sometime during the event, he/she turns around and spots, a well behaved group of teens sitting directly behind him.

But as that one adult spectator or member of the audience turns back to his own seat, thoughts are running through his/her mind.

Thoughts such as, but they, the teens, are not doing all those things one would expect a teen to do, like pressing their feet up against the back of one’s chair, making offhand comments or gestures or even shouting or yelling.

Then something else crosses one’s mind. That something? Maybe those well behaved teens have parents who not only take and make the time to talk to their kids, but also show them how much they are cared for. Sometimes, good behaviour goes back to good parenting.

And in an age where one might learn the news of the impatient or irresponsible parent who may have used some drastic method of eliminating his/her offspring, it’s good to know that there are some parents out there who do take the time to raise their kids the best they can.

For instance, some of those concerned parents may keep the line of communication open in case that teen may have something he/she needs to discuss.

Then there are other little acts that are also important, such as being present at that school play or sporting event, so when the teen looks up and catches a glimpse of his/her parent or parents in the audience, it makes him/her feel all the more appreciated.

And in a world that is filled with many distractions and temptations, good parenting is one thing that will always be important.

For the next time an adult in our midst observes a well behaved teen, or an entire group of them, it is the parent who took the time to raise those teens the best they could that deserves praise, for kids learn from the adults around them.
