Jennifer Lopez's Production Company Supports Latino Novel
Jennifer Lopez who stars and produces the upcoming film El Cantante with husband Marc Anthony has been actively acquiring and developing a slate of projects through her company Jennifer Lopez Entertainment also known as Nuyorican Productions. She is driven to create projects that accurately portray American-born Latinos and considered acquiring Forever My Lady at the time.
Although her production company ultimately couldn't fit Forever My Lady in their schedule, Matt Robertson, a development executive at the company called the book, "a well-written and powerful love story."
Forever My Lady has fast become the #1 New Urban Latino love story in the country. The story began as a screenplay over a decade ago but after years of developing the story author Jeff Rivera translated it into a novel. It since been picked up by Warner Books/Grand Central and has become an underground bestselling novel especially in Latino and Chicano communities.
"It's gripping." 28-year old Emma Hill says who read the book in her U.K. home.
"I read the first book in 1 day," says 30-year old Rebecca Valenzuela
from Long Beach, California. "I was hooked I found that I could relate to the characters and loved the detail. From the moment I finished the first book I couldn't wait for the second book.
Fans across the world say they are not surprised there has been so much film interest and acclaim for the novel. Rivera hopes that other powerful executives in Hollywood take an interests in the novel.
"I feel privileged just to have had Jennifer Lopez's company enjoy the book so much. I know that the right company will come along and finally produce Forever My Lady as a film." Rivera says.
The opinion is shared with 23-year old Ryan Elliot from South Bend, India who is not at all surprised by the success of the book, "It is very well-written. There aren't many books like it."
