The ‘Global War On Terror’ Through A Soldier’s Eyes
The media has been cited as distorting the reality of what our troops are doing in far away places, and giving a biased, one-sided view of the results of war. Many military employees have accused various media entities of showing ‘propaganda footage’ that emphasizes the price of war rather than the achievements bought by soldier blood, sweat and tears.
Perhaps the best way to get a glimpse into what really goes on during the heat of battle without being a soldier is giving a soldier the chance to collect his or her thoughts and experiences and send them to us. A soldier in Iraq recently compiled photographs to send to his wife that expressed just what he faced so far away from home.
This soldier shares his experiences by compiling everything from pictures of himself to Iraqi citizens celebrating in the street, and from mourning for American and Iraqi casualties to the results of fighting for something he believes in, no matter how the story plays out back home. Set to the mournful tune of 3 Doors Down’s “Here Without You”, get a glimpse of war through a soldier’s eyes.
