Price is Right for Drew Carey

Game show legend Bob Barker retired June 15th from the number one daytime show, The Price is Right, after 35 years of hosting.

Since then, CBS and the game show’s production team searched for a new host that would be able to fill Bob Barker’s shoes; and on July 23’s taping of the Late Show with David Letterman, Drew Carey announced that he had accepted to do so.

Couldn’t say anything, but during your Harry Potter bit – honestly it was like 15 minutes ago – they called me. It’s a done deal. I’m the new host of The Price Is Right.” Announced Drew Carey during the Late Show.

Drew Carey first started his career as a stand-up comedian and then moved into acting and producing. Two of Drew Carey’s best known shows ran simultaneously, “The Drew Carey Show” and “Who’s Line is it Anyway?”, and he recently accepted a hosting position with CBS’s prime time game show “Power of 10” which is set to start this August.

The Price is Right will start its 36th season this fall on CBS which will have Drew Carey juggling both game shows and making him the most watched game show host.

Since the Price is Right premiered on September 4, 1972; the show has won multiple Emmy Awards and the title of the longest running game show.
