Is laziness reaching a new high?

Paul Gay
I run an online website that specializes in clotheslines and laundry related merchandize. A few weeks ago I was contacted by a company with one of the strangest inventions I have seen to date. Simply put, it's a clothesline that installs and removes clothespins for you. My first reaction was, "Ummm, sure it does pal, and I just invented self-buttering toast too. None-the-less, I was intrigued enough to watch a video. Then came my second reaction; "Just how lazy have we become?" I couldn't believe people could be unmotivated enough to actually want one of these things. Well since I've never been accused of being the, "sharpest tack in the pack," I decided to give it a bit more thought. The company boldly claimed it could dramatically reduce the time needed to hang laundry by 60% and reduce removal time by an astonishing 90%! Well that seemed a bit odd to me so I asked for a sample. Upon opening the container, I noted that it was a double-pulley/two-line system with the clothespins that stay attached to one of the lines. It was simple enough to install so I gave it a try. Much to my amazement, it actually worked as advertised.

It finally occurred to me that with the time-crunched busy life styles of so many folks today, the time saved with this invention might convert some of these hard core electric and gas dryer stalwarts into green-loving clothesline users. I talk to many people daily regarding the use of clotheslines and have determined that using one is like flossing teeth. We all know we should, but only a few of do it every time. Well I think this latest technological advancement in clothes drying will remove the "time excuse" from the equation. We posted the video on our site http://www.clotheslineshop.com. All are welcome to watch, even if you have no interest in ever using a clothesline. Now if someone would just invent a laundry basket that loads itself and carries it out to the line....
