Countdown to Indictment for Rove and Libby
Rove and Libby may soon be exchanging their suits for a more prison pinstripe look if Patrick Fitzgerald brings the indictments. Really it not a case of “if” as much as it is “who.”
Let’s see, you have Dick Cheney, who told Libby, who told three reporters, and so.
You have Libby who may have lied at every turn. Then you have Karl Rove who seems clueless as to why he is in trouble. Maybe it is the selective memory that he has when being questioned by the feds.
Dick Cheney will get a walk. There is always that one person in the White House that is like Teflon. Nothing sticks to them. Could it be possible that the Miers withdrawal was an attempt to deflect from the possible indictments they thought were coming today? I guess they missed that one. Poor Harriet, this White House has taken her through the ringer; I hope they give her a raise.
Fitzgerald met with Rove's attorney, Robert Luskin, and prosecutors conducted an 11th-hour interview with Adam Levine, a former official in the White House press office, about his conversations with Rove.
Rove and Libby could do well in the chorus in prison, since they love to sing. They would tell everything. Lying is not their strong suit though because they got busted pretty quickly.
Which one will take a plea deal to avoid jail? My bet is Karl Rove since he is under the illusion that he is indispensable. He doesn’t realize that there are a lot of people that President Bush owes favors to, so he can be replaced before the ink in dry on the indictment.
I wait with baited breath to see who will be the fall guy.
