What Does Democracy Mean To Liberal Democrats?

Ken Hughes
Some questions can’t be answered, something’s must be classified as misnomers. Compassion for the oppressed is one of the many things that can’t be accredited to the Democratic Party. Anti-war movements date back to our Revolutionary War. There’ve been pacifists throughout history. I’m inclined to believe today’s anti-war protesters aren’t pacifists, they’re making a political statement. They aren’t so much apposed to the war as they’re apposed to President Bush and his administration. They have yet to make a definitive statement how they would conduct the Iraq war. Or how to extract our troops from Iraq.

Iraq is struggling to create a democracy, something unheard of in the Arab World. Rather than support them in their efforts the Democratic Party’s willing to pull the rug out from under them. Is this the party of the people, I think not. Again, I ask what democracy means to Democrats. Is it democracy to sidestep the constitution and go directly to judicial legislation form the bench? Is it democracy to advocate the removal of government officials without due process? Are good men to be considered suspect simply because they’re Republicans and Conservatives? What happened to those concepts written in the documents that created this great country? We the People, Presumed innocent until proven guilty. One nation under God, Those things they no longer teach our children in schools. Instead, they teach bilingual languages and same sex dating education classes.

Liberalism is a failing ideology. Liberalism has failed to keep up with the times. Blue color workers are becoming a dieing breed. Today they’re the CEO’s of small independent businesses. They’ve become independent tradesmen replacing the larger unionized companies of the past. Independently they’re small businesses collectively they’re larger than General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler combined. These new businesses are the backbone of the new American economy. They’re a stable force that can’t be outsourced to other countries. Most operate as LLC, [Limited Liability Corporations.] The advantage is they aren’t affiliated with a union, They’re to small to be effected by cumbersome federal regulations. These new businesses with fewer than 25 employees are America’s salvation. They are carpenters, roofers, painters, hairdressers, coffee venders, fast food providers, independent truckers, there are literally hundreds of independent operations these men and women can build a future on.

Liberal minded people will do their best to prevent these operations from being successful by over regulation, over taxation, and an over zealous attempt to discredit them.

The public no longer buys the concept government and unions can be the sole providers for the needs of the people. What the government gives it can also take away. What the government gives they have already taken from the people in one form or another. The reason we are forced to compete in a global economy with foreign made products is because of a number of things all coming together at one time. The route causes are public greed, government regulations, foreign trade agreements, excessive union contracts, and a total disregard for our neighbor’s welfare. We are no longer a united people. We’re a self indulgent group with little regard for our fellow man, or the countries welfare.

The atmosphere of self-indulgence comes from a liberal phylophy That makes us believe we are entitled to whatever pleases us. The generation of the great depression indulged their children not wanting them to suffer as they had.The indulgence is like a cancer untreated the indulgence grows, and spreads.
