Nobel Peace Prize Nominee to be Executed

Del Williams
Former street gangster and convicted kill, Stanley “Tookie” Williams will die December 13. Williams, 51, was the co-founder of the Los Angeles Crips gang, where he allegedly killed four people in 1979.

He has been a frequent speaker by phone to youth, and was the subject of a movie with Jamie Foxx.

Williams was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize twice for his books from death row warning children against the gang life he led. He has been a frequent speaker by phone to youth, and was the subject of a movie with Jamie Foxx. His books also include a memoir, Black Rage, Black Redemption.

With the Supreme Court denying his appeal on October 11th, Governor Schwarzenegger must intervene on November 6th. The odds are not in favor of Williams since the last time a Governor of CA commuted a sentence was in 1967.

The Court of Appeals had suggested clemency in 2002 even though they ruled against his petition. So, will The Governor grant clemency or will he let a changed man die?

The death penalty has some good uses, but rarely are the ones who deserve given it. For example, how can Charles Manson still be breathing air? The Son of Sam still being fed with tax dollars. Child murderers and spouse killers rarely get a death sentence. So, when the system really does the right thing, then give them the needle. Until then, give the man his lifetime in his cell.
