I Also Have a Dream!!!!
I have always liked my name for a couple of reasons. For one it is an easy one to remember. It has a ring to it. And it shares two key initials with a spiritual giant, Martin Luther King.
Not only have I shared his vision. I would like to flesh it out a little more now, in the context of THIS time of times, THIS era which seems so spiritually & morally bereft & completely bankrupt.
This is MY dream; the dream of a nurse:
I have a dream that EVERY CHILD BORN TO THIS EARTH IS A WANTED CHILD.
That every child who comes to this earth has been PLANNED for, ANTICIPATED WITH GREAT JOY, & that BOTH parents are deeply in love & committed to each other.
I have a dream that children of every tribe, & every race, who live here now can live in peace & freedom.
That NO child goes to bed hungry. Not just for food, of course not just that. But NO child knows the awful heart hunger; of being abandoned because the pursuit of material possessions has become more important than the quest & desire to create beautiful, happy memories for these children.
I have a dream that parents will be living examples to their children of how to navigate the complexities of life, in a spirit of adventure & invincibility.
I have a dream that IT IS NEVER TOO LATE to have a HAPPY childhood.
That the Pursuit of HAPPINESS will be the focus of their lives, & the lives of their families.
That in that quest, the discovery is made, that TRUE happiness actually comes from thinking about & making others happy. Planning happy surprises, knowing the language of a child's heart.
I have a dream that using WAR as a solution to anything fades rapidly in the mists of time, revealing that we were all simply awakening from a bad dream, & awakening in the beautiful morning light to new & exciting possibilities, looking forward to those moments every day.
That that delicious sense of anticipation a child feels on Christmas morning can be one felt within each heart every morning. Not just one day of the year.
I have a dream that endless conflicts & power struggles over borders THAT ARE NOT THERE in reality AT ALL, be eradicated, & that our global citizenry will come to SEE this, through the amazing SEEING EYEs of our sophisticated technology.
I have a dream that the love of power reverses polarity worldwide to the power of love.
I have a dream of every child being read to in a loving parent's lap. That a love of literacy is kindled in the heart of every child, both young & old.
That a love of PEACE grows steadily with each colder day in the northern hemisphere, & warms with the spring in the southern.
I have a dream of home-made pleasures, love of crafts & the joy of making things at home enriches every home. Making a poem, a song, a cake, a loaf of bread. That the tapestries of memories we weave together, flow in an extraordinary cascade of rainbows & colors everywhere, shining away the dark shadows , the shadow stalkers, the greys who have dominated for so long the global body politic.
I have a dream of delicious smelling foods perfuming the air of homes & villages & communities where every one is known by their NAME & not as a number.
Of spontaneous dancing, joyful chirping, endless love.
I have a dream of living in peace & harmony with the soulmate of my dreams.
Somewhere, some day, some how.
I have a dream of skating, skating, skating into the dawn of this millennial peace, moving, jumping & soaring with the true joy of a victory banner held high. Always landing, with grace, spinning & whirling, twirling & laughing.
I have a dream that the motto on our New Hampshire auto plates READS:
Live free & fly!
Yes, I ALSO have a dream!
